Two other places I find a lot colder than Devonport in the winter are Sheffield and Deloraine - anywhere inland really. Bit dull, grey and....English today! Thick fog is often a hazard in autumn and winter on the way to Launceston. The fogs settles in all the dips and hollows. I've had hospital appointments in Launceston and had to leave much earlier to allow for very careful driving on the way there. It's usually gone by the time I'm on the way back home. I live a quarter of the way up the mountain which had 236 on the summit and of course, being quite steep, it rushes down to the city very quickly. No flooding and no leaks for me, fortunately. Although, ironically, I had a flood 3 days before. I had a water filter attached to the cold water inlet in the garage (under the kitchen floor). It suddenly burst off - in the middle of a massive wind storm - and I had cascades of water flooding down the back wall into the garage.
