The weather in Devonport Tasmania today

The Huon Valley is lovely - maybe the snow just settles on the surrounding hills and not lower down.  Launceston is warmer in the summer and colder in the winter than the north west coast.  I've seen a flurry of snow in Devonport which lasted about 5 minutes.  Two other places I find a lot colder than Devonport in the winter are Sheffield and Deloraine - anywhere inland really.

We really liked the Grindelwald and Dilston areas

-sounds perfect.  We are at last getting some sunshine but not in time for my daughter's visit.  such a shame.  she's in Paris now

enjoying some hot weather.

Apparently the UK is also expecting some very warm weather soon.  Hard to believe it was snowing there not so long ago.

Yes Libby, the weather is just lovely just now.  Lovely autumn days.  :)

Launceston City Park (the one with the monkeys) is lovely in the autumn.  Did you go there?

No the weather was awful so we went to the museum....but we're back there in a couple of weekends so hopefully can do the Harvest market and city park ☺

Thick fog yesterday  up to Stony Rise road at 8.15am. Then sunshine all the way to Burnie!

Bit dull, grey and....English today!

Thick fog is often a hazard in autumn and winter on the way to Launceston.  The fogs settles in all the dips and hollows.  I've had hospital appointments in Launceston and had to leave much earlier to allow for very careful driving on the way there.  It's usually gone by the time I'm on the way back home.

I'll second that over 100 mm today I heard on the radio.

I had 170 mm in my rain gauge in 24 hours.  I live a quarter of the way up the mountain which had 236 on the summit and of course, being quite steep, it rushes down to the city very quickly.  No flooding and no leaks for me, fortunately.

Although, ironically, I had a flood 3 days before.  I had a water filter attached to the cold water inlet in the garage (under the kitchen floor).  It suddenly burst off - in the middle of a massive wind storm - and I had cascades of water flooding  down the back wall into the garage.  So I did my water mopping on Tuesday.
