JockinTas Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Today in Devonport we have a cloudless blue sky, no wind at all and it's 25C. Quote
Margie Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 We are heading down to Hobart for Xmas...been many times and love it!! Margie  Quote
JockinTas Posted December 20, 2015 Author Posted December 20, 2015 We are having a lovely refreshing downpour at the moment. Can really smell the pine and eucalyptus in the air now. Quote
PommyPaul Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 pretty warm here today, not as hot as they said it'd be i reckon... the rain has started now with a couple of rumbles of thunder... got the windows open hoping for a bit of cool air to blow through Quote
JockinTas Posted December 23, 2015 Author Posted December 23, 2015 Perfect weather here today. Not a cloud in the sky, slight breeze and 23C. Quote
JockinTas Posted December 31, 2015 Author Posted December 31, 2015 Just been swimming. Clear blue sky and 28C. Quote
Bound4Tassie Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Just been swimming. Clear blue sky and 28C. Sounds delightful! Just seen some photos from port sorell this morning on fb. Wishing I was seeing the new year in there rather than trying to bolster the fence against the battering winds!! Quote
PommyPaul Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 sweated my butt off today pulling a double shift, shame the cloud has rolled in as there is an awesome southern lights now kicking off Quote
JockinTas Posted January 5, 2016 Author Posted January 5, 2016 It's an overcast cool day so went for a 3 hour walk near Latrobe. Ruined all that good activity by having scones, jam and cream with a coffee on the return to Latrobe :wideeyed: Quote

Marisawright Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Found any clotted cream.in Tas? I think clotted cream is a real acquired taste. We often have Devonshire teas on our outings in Dorset and the New Forest, but I'm getting to the stage where I ask for a pat of butter instead of the cream! I usually nick some of my oh's cream just to see what it's like, but it's nearly always far too dense, almost like soft butter, and has no taste to speak of. Quote

JockinTas Posted January 8, 2016 Author Posted January 8, 2016 Warm, sunny beautiful day and 27C. Went for a swim - lovely. Quote
JockinTas Posted January 13, 2016 Author Posted January 13, 2016 (edited) A warm day here today (27C) It's now nearly 8:30 pm and the sky is black and I can hear thunder in the distance. Hope we receive good rainfall tonight. .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Now 8:45 pm and though still light it's seems nearly dark because of the black sky and it's starting to rain. The bloke who lives opposite is out washing his truck in the rain  Edited January 13, 2016 by JockinTas Quote
JockinTas Posted January 19, 2016 Author Posted January 19, 2016 Another lovely day. Warm and sunny 26C. There is a bit of a smell of smoke as a bushfire is burning west of us. It started due to a lightning strike the other night. Apparently it is all under control. Everything is so dry as we haven't had rain for such a while. Quote
Bound4Tassie Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Hope you're ok with the fires/ smoke.I believe you've had a bad few days with smoke. Well that's what the Ulverstone rellies tell me! Quote
JockinTas Posted January 23, 2016 Author Posted January 23, 2016 Today was clear but the last three days were bad with smoke. A neighbour who has lived here for over 70 years has never experienced smoke like it before. It has been exceptionally dry and we haven't had much rain since the winter time and according to a forecast, good rainfall isn't due until March  The farmers have been having to pump water from their dams for irrigating the fields. Bound4Tassie Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Shame we can't share out some of the UK rain! Quote
JockinTas Posted January 23, 2016 Author Posted January 23, 2016 Shame we can't share out some of the UK rain! We could certainly use a fair bit of your rain just now. I had an email from a friend in south west Scotland and she is sick to death of the miserable wet weather. They've been flooded twice recently. Trying to persuade her to come here for a holiday but she has horses and dogs to worry about. Quote
JockinTas Posted January 23, 2016 Author Posted January 23, 2016 There is no wind at all this morning and the smoke is just hanging in the air. It's another warm day with no rain forecast - hope a wind gets up later to clear the air. The fires seem to be under control. Quote
Skani Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Clear down here at last. I've finally put a heap of washing on the line :wubclub: Actually very overcast here with forecast showers later on. I notice up north is forecast to have showers/possible showers every day from tomorrow. Not enough to put the fires out but hopefully will slow them down and clear the air. Quote

They often forecast showers but they only last for a couple of minutes  The way the smoke is today .............. I have an idea now what it must be like to live in Beijing. Yesterday was clear - got the washing hung out - but we had a good breeze - none yet this morning. Quote
JockinTas Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 I believe you people in Hobart had rain yesterday. We got nothing at all  No smoke today and warm and sunny - getting a bit boring all this sunshine ............. desperate for rain. Quote
IrishDigger Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I prefer the cooler climate of Victoria and Tasmania and if I didn't live where I live in Victoria my next preference would be Tasmania. You can keep the tropical north. Quote
