Christmas decorations.

Just how far do you go with the decorations at Christmas, is it just a small tree over the TV with mini balls and a bit of fuzz or is it like Santas grotto all decked out in eager anticipation for old nick and his sack full of goodies?

Blue lights out the front, (only at Christmas) multi-coloured round the back, white round the side (though they are all year round)

1 x huge real tree in front lounge with no particular colour scheme, combo of home made, bought and 'special' baubles plus clear lights.

1 x tiny fibre optic in family room

1 wicker hanging star decoration from French doors

1 x string of lights in bowl of pine cones

1 x homemade snowglobe

1 x beaded garland on fireplace

That's all.

………….the last couple of years…..

……………and a few homemade decorations….

…………….did seed pods last year….sprayed white.

……………..looked ok and it burnt on the bonfire when finished….

………………but this year the grandson is nearly 2..!

………………so a bit more effort required….

……………..though it will be held on the 12th..

……………..when most of us are here….

……………..made a father christmas already but think i might buy some new decoration….

……………..a real tre that gets planted outside when finished……..4 already from years past….

1 x Medium sized Christmas tree with coloured lights and baubles. Only using old baubles this year as our grandson is only 16 months old and he is bound to pull some off and I don't want the good ones broken. I also don't want a tree he isn't allowed to go near as that seems a bit cruel.

1 x wreath thing on the front door.

I am thinking about asking my husband to put some fairy lights out the back but I think about fairy lights every year and never do it.

My Parents house used to look like Santa vomited tinsel, lights and decorations all over it and I'm sure this has resulted in my minimalist approach to Christmas.

If my mum was still alive we could introduce them. Things hanging from doorways, tinsel scalloped around the walls with crap hanging off it, stand up decorations on furniture, big fat tinsel on the tree as well as that icicle tinsel stuff, sticker things on the windows. The list just goes on and on. It was embarrassing lol

Usually get the decorations and tree up 10 days before Christmas. Some people in our street have the trees and lights on already.

We used to do it on Dec 1st in UK, here it has become Mid Dec usually but will put everything up this weekend now as going away 28th and want to get best out of the tree. Put the advent calendars up tonight but daughters had to be scrapped as chocs too big for holes (she doesn't even live here anymore!) I will put them in a bowl for her for when she comes instead. The fibre-optic tree is up in the family room. I love Christmas, it's the most wonderful time of the year:) Tomorrow is official 'play the Christmas CD in the work car for first time' day. If you go past a seriously off key Mariah Carey you'll know it was me....

I haven't changed the amount of Xmas dec's I put up.Usually a Xmas tree, wreath on door, and I dec out a candle holder to look more Xmas'y!Its no National Lampoons Xmas for my place!lol When the kids were younger,I would do the trad day thing,12 days beforehand etc.The last few years the decs go up 2 days before Xmas and come down Boxing day!:laugh:Once, being an alternative type person,I decided to do an eco friendly tree.A person at work was selling willow twigs.I brought a couple of bunches, brought some very small xmas lights and bamboo type decs.I sat the "tree"in a large glass vase type thing on the floor.I was well chuffed with it.Daughters however weren't!Not even when I told them, bar the lights, all was compostable!haha:xmas29::xmas24::xmas17::xmas4:
