Civil construction jobs

Recommended Posts

Hi all, the company I work for are looking to employ some extra Foremen and Leading hands in the SE Queensland area, experience in sub divisions and civil construction in general are needed. Just google up BMD and go from there, the jobs may not be displayed on the employment opportunities section but worth a cold call.

Also BMD are starting to win a few contracts over in Western Australia, this is a new area for BMD so one could be in at grass roots for future growth with the company.

Good luck to all.

Keith.

I can feel a finders bonus coming on!!

Seriously, the company I work for had been actively looking for UK imigrants with specialist qualifications and skills. My industry is genuinely circa 10 years behind and employing people from UK is helping them get a competitive edge and closing the gap.

Anybody looking for for building supervision roles must make themselves aware of very different contracts, very different builder requirements and a lack of client side assistance.

Yep there are some differences here in OZ, in Queensland a foreman or general foreman are the same as a Site manager/Site Agent in the UK. In South Australia both terms are used.

So when looking through job advertisements do not be out off by the job title, look for or find out the job description.

Further to my earlier post, BMD are looking for people in NSW, Newcastle, Central coast, Sydney and Southern coast, note this is not just for Foremen/Leading hands but a wider range of employment opportunities. Google BMD and see what's going. Remember even if your job description is not shown it could still be worth a try.

Good luck.

Hi Keith, do you know how long the company will be recruiting for? My partner is a Civil Engineer with a Masters in Project Management and around 5 years of post grad experience. We've just been granted PR so we're heading home for a just over month to see family before heading back out. Do you reckon recruitment will be over by the time we get back?? (Around mid September).

Thanks in advance!

Just go for it now and explain your situation, we do seem to be picking up some work at present. Our 'BMD Urban' part of the group have secured $21m on 4 projects over the last 3 months in NSW with projections for further growth in all states & Territories.

Good luck

Hi, I was granted my visa yesterday. So I am thinking how to approach the next thing now.!

I am an architect by profession.! Do you think your company will have openings for similar job roles as mine?

I am confused as of date to either land up in Aus and then carry out my job search or to start applying to prospective employers from my country and travel as something sounds positive. Could you advise please.!

In case I land up before I get a full time job offer, I would certainly need a part time job to support myself there. Is it hard to find part time jobs (small scale work).
