Guest51810
Oh well. I'll be hunting till I find one that definitely covers me even if it's more expensive. I'm too clumsy to not get it, no way would my family be able to get me back if the worst was ever to happen. Not that anybody wants to think of that kind of thing
Alix Fisher
I'm on hold to alpha again!! I'm going to see if proof of my visa expiring after the year is proof. I don't really want to go without any but on the other hand if I die my parents can't afford to ship me home[emoji85] It'd just be Sod's law though. I'll let you know what they say
Alix Fisher
I've just spoke to Go Walkabout. I'm going with them, £137 for a years cover and £75 excess if I need to claim! They cover me for going on a one way flight and they give me the opportunity to extend my cover whilst I'm out there for a second year if I wanted to anyway yay

They cover me for going on a one way flight and they give me the opportunity to extend my cover whilst I'm out there for a second year if I wanted to anyway yay I'm not sure about insurance and how much you need? For the flight here? Definitely. For any holiday trips you might take whilst you are here, perhaps, definitely if you travel out of Australia, but whilst you are in OZ, any medical emergency and you will be treated as per agreement between UK and OZ? I know I am UK citizen but I would not take out insurance for a year in the UK if I went back.
Alix Fisher
I've got insurance now and it covers me for worst case, if I need an ambulance etc so I'm glad! No need to worry now and of course if my flight gets delayed etc
Alix Fisher
Medicare doesn't cover me if I need to get flown home if I die, and it also doesn't cover long term care should anything serious happen
MARYROSE02
Medicare doesn't cover me if I need to get flown home if I die, and it also doesn't cover long term care should anything serious happen OK I did not know that. I always take out insurance when I go on holiday abroad. I can't remember what I did in 1978 when I came here on a WHV!?
Alix Fisher
Ooooh that's years ago lol! I'm surprised at how cheap I got it for, when I was first looking it was so expensive like £300-500 for a year!!

Alix Fisher
They didn't say that to me on the phone when I rang them!! They said cos I was going on a one way there was nothing they could do for me because again like alpha I couldn't prove I was coming home just my word for it. I'm glad I've sorted it though

Guest51810
A few people have told me very recently that I will have no problem finding hospitality work. I'm still being cautious about that though. I probably won't believe anybody till I actually see for myself
dmjg
Visa - done flights - done 2 weeks accommodation and intro package - done suitcase - done (thank god!) pick seats - done I still need to pick insurance now and buy a few more clothes and I think that's pretty much me done. Unless anybody else can think of other things that I might really need More money than you think
