........did we learn....?

.........Twenty years ago at least 8,000 Bosnian Muslims were murdered by Orthodox Christian Serbs.......

.............approximately 25 - 35,000 women, children and elderly were forcibly moved from their homes.

..............The bodies are still being discovered.

.............

.............these people were killed simply because of who they were.

.............We remember this terrible crime because we dare not forget, because we must pay tribute to the innocent lives, ..............many of them children, snuffed out in what must be called genocidal madness.

.............. I hope the very mention of the name “Srebrenica” will remind every child in the world that pride in our own religious and ethnic heritage does not require or permit us to dehumanize or kill those who are different.

...............I hope and pray that Srebrenica will be for all the world a sober reminder of our common humanity. ...Bill Clinton.

...........yet still we tar all of a....religion.....a creed.....an ethnentictity.......with the brush that colours the few....

...........because you......wear this......believe in that.......look like you do.....

...........your as bad.......!

...........we feed a hate, just by our prejudice.......based on the actions of those in the news for their atrocities....

...........and by doing so.........continue to feed the cycle.........

...........Srebrenica is in the news again.........a poignant reminder that genocide was executed against a people....

..........for being who ,what, and where they were......

.............did we learn.....???

.............did we ever learn....??

No we seldom learn from history. A new generation repeats old mistakes. All too few learn much factual with regards to their historical past. Far more emphasis should be placed on such subjects with far more discussion and critique.

Just a short stroll from my house here in Perth is the Yugol Club. They claim a place for all tribes of the Former Yugoslavia. Quite a lively place from outside observation. Living together can be done. There just needs to be the will. And no mischief making politicians bringing to attention differences for political gain.
