Far right marchers massively outnumbered in Newcastle

Recommended Posts

Well it won't when people are labelled for having an opinion. We're all on the same side...supposedly.

Well no we part company there. Those that march under EDL are most definitely not on my side any more than Muslim fascists would be. They have agendas and if it was not Muslims it would be another group, be it Asians or blacks or Jews of refugees or some other minority. Much more than an opinion an agenda.

It's a question of balance. To throw the race card (not even a race mind) is ludicrous and a cheap shot imo. I detest racism in any form but I do think the muslim community have a problem and the stats worry me. Even more worrying is that many will keep their mouths shut but sympathise with the jihadists behind closed doors. The stats seem to speak for themselves and it is concerning. I daresay there's a significant minority that would like a return to white Australia too and 'voluntary repatriation' in UK of non whites which I personally find an abhorrent proposal...

There is quite a lot in common with the far right where ever you care to look. In a funny sort of way an extreme member of a right wing faction in the west would likely support the aims of purest jihadists while at the same time considering them the enemy. I am afraid a lot of factors cannot be discounted. Race, religion, culture, history all go towards making up the fascist belief in self identity and country.

Look I am not fond of any ultra right wing group from any side be it knuckle dragging skinheads or Muslims who read the Koran upside down.all I want is some middle ground where we can all get on.i just wish we heard more from the Muslim community denouncing/ mass marches against this evil which portrays Islam in a bad light. Look I am sure not all want sharia but a vast majority of the minority do.their lies the problem. I was always told be aware of the quiet man.in this case the Muslims being the quiet man.

Sadly the majority quiet Muslims that go about their business are not/seldom heard above the shrill sounds of the radicalised, both from within but especially from sections of the media which would appear in quarters to be hell bent on making Islam in general an enemy.

We do not hear the same outcry from radicalised white warriors be in EDL full of snarling hatred in part, or a person that can take the lives of 77 in Norway due to their right wing/fascist belief nor the recent murder of three Muslims in the States and so on. Not sure who should be scared of who?

Definitely nothing new. If anything the Right have faltered. In France the FN have moderated policy in Germany the Far Right have failed to take off as have else where in Europe. In Greece the far left take over power, with Spanish left growing in strength to maybe put up a feasible challenge to government in the forth coming elections. Even in Newcastle, a city hardly noted for its diversity had many times more anti fascists than far righters in attendance.

Rather contrary to what you suggest and a good deal of tabloid paranoia influence apparent here. Muslims are not the blame to peoples feeling of angst these days. Although plenty want to make it so to take the guys of the real issues revolving around a faltering economic system.

Far right and far left are so close together they are as dangerous as each other. Were it a straight line they would be poles apart but it's more like a circle.

I have informed you that you are mistaken. The Right is no more on the march than it was in the past. Likely less so. As I said the Left is on the march if that is the term you want to use. You have provided no evidence outside of right wing manifestos. Nothing at all. Hence nothing outside of ideology to debate.

What's this thread about and why were all those people on the streets then?

There is a difference between a mere assertion, which you have made here, and a factual statement. You assert that the far right is not rising in Europe, and I am stating that it is. Evidence for this would include the 24 NF seats in France, the rise of Golden Dawn, Jobbik in Hungary, and a bona fide neo-Nazi MEP in the form of Udo Voigt who openly praises Hitler and now sits in the European Parliament. All of these movements are far-right, partially racially motivated and on the rise, as is the BNP and EDL in the UK in popular support.

Not to mention UKIP, who are the most likely to be making inroads. The acceptable face of paranoia, anti islam sentiment, racism, call it what you will.

Leicester has a far larger Indian population of Sikhs and Hindus than Muslims.

Or are you now turning your ire on all migrants?

http://www.leicester.gov.uk/your-council-services/council-and-democracy/city-statistics/other-statistics/historical-interest/census2001/ethnicity/

Whatever they are Leicester and a number of other cities sure have a problem. Who knows whether they are Sikhs, Hindus, Muslims? Your average UK resident wouldn't have a clue and shouldn't really have to bother, but they do. It's a pity religion had caused this and not being religious is no excuse not to get caught up in the argument or the outcomes.

Yes that is a common consensus. I would also suggest the status quo is hardly in favour of ordinary people in recent times either. All too many have tuned off politics as not suiting their interests.

The Right I seem to recall were way out numbered by anti fascist counter protesters as is the usual state of affairs at such protests. Wether now or twenty five years ago or more ago.

I think it's hard to put a label on Right or Left in some of these protests and counter protests. When we were younger some of my mates were not interested in politics, social issues, race or any of those things people get worked up about. They loved a bit of a scrap though and would often go to Sheffield when any sort of protest was on. Just for a chance of a good scrap, a few beers and maybe a chance to throw something at the police and get away with it.

Personally couldn't be bothered with all the aggro.

Certainly in the UK the EDL have been smashed by infighting and bad PR so their regular demos are no longer so.

The Newcastle march was purportedly to support the German neo-nazis but it's all very vague who organised and why - but no doubt the detritus of the EDL/BNP

were in there somewhere...

Tell me there is not a reason to doubt/fear the Right Wing fascist fanatics with the atrocities committed in the name of their misguided ideology. Not a wig in sight.

What atrocities? name them .tell me when their was a public beheading in England and I don't mean going back 200 years.

Only if you equate Fascism on both sides (including ISIS) as being akin. ISIS is a philosophy without country in the real sense and can operate most anywhere. Of course their ideal is the creation of a United Islamic state, putting it simply but is hardly equal to the Nazi state that was formed from within established German borders.

A big difference being once the Nazi state was defeated so was the philosophy. ISIS or like minded groups have the potential to fight for ever basically. They do not fear death, they inhabit a region in turmoil, that no western intervention has to date managed to pacify, even after two wars, so nothing very similar imo.

That's the worry they can operate anywhere without fear or favour something the nazis could not do.

It would have been far easier to take on Russia at the time than to take on an idea.

Stalingrad Comes to mind nah don't think so.what idea? Do you mean ideology.muslims where peaceful in that era and decades later I believe it's the western Muslims who have a chip on their shoulder. Look Jordan/ Egypt / Iran / Kurds Muslim countries are bombing Isis left right and centre.Good the majority of these muslim countries fight on our side. Its the brainwashed western Muslims who are fighting.

And so on whats that?the Muslims shot in the states was due to a parking matter I believe by some nut job.anders brevjick was a lone phsyco.who was angry at the labour establishment due to the mass islamafaction of his country.has there been copy cats no.but there has been plenty in Europe by Muslim extremists. And a lot have been stopped by the intelligence services. Thankfully.
