Quoll 6,241 Posted March 7, 2015 EDL not racist......:biglaugh: No, not, which is why they have Sikh, Hindu, West Indian (and GLBT!) supporters the racist epithet if is one levelled by the UAF/Antifa mob which is manifestly untrue.
Perthbum 5,725 Posted March 7, 2015 (edited) No, not, which is why they have Sikh, Hindu, West Indian (and GLBT!) supporters the racist epithet if is one levelled by the UAF/Antifa mob which is manifestly untrue. Think you are getting mixed up with UKIP quoll, we are talking the EDL, they do not have the members you mention, THEY HATE MUSLIMS BLACKS AND IMMIGRANTS. THEY USED TO HAVE SHOW MEMBERS. The English Defence League spend an inordinate amount of time claiming they are multi-cultural and they are not wrong. They have one Glaswegian Asian with mental health problems, a racist sikh who has been ex-communicated and two black gentlemen. Well they did have two until one of them, Glen Warren, stated that he was not going to an anti paedo booze up run my the BNP. This however did not go down well with some of them and Manchester based racist, Gelly McGeown (pictured left) turned up to dish out some vile racist abuse. This is some of the nastiest racial abuse we have seen and it is directed at one of their own members which is a clear message as to what ethnic minorities can expect if they accept the English Defence League’s offer of being used as a token. Guest51810 11,261 Posted March 9, 2015 Apparently the EDL have came to glasgow before or rather they called it SDL but Glasgow wiped the floor with them. Or so I read anyway. Obviously we definitely have our fair share of some of the types that will be in that group but as a whole I'd say we don't like groups like that or pegida or whatever it's called! flag of convenience 3,987 Posted March 9, 2015 No, not, which is why they have Sikh, Hindu, West Indian (and GLBT!) supporters the racist epithet if is one levelled by the UAF/Antifa mob which is manifestly untrue. EDF is indeed a racist organisation which doesn't mean the few token people of other braces are not tolerated, especially if can be used as propaganda. Very would partake for obvious reasons and shame on those that do.
Guest51810 11,261 Posted March 9, 2015 Not in that way I meant they were completely outnumbered by protesters like Newcastle. Some places don't like groups like that
flag of convenience 3,987 Posted March 9, 2015 Very civilised I thought so as well. Only right and proper to show them the way out.
Guest51810 11,261 Posted March 9, 2015 I thought so as well. Only right and proper to show them the way out. I didn't mean violence, as far as I know there wasn't any. We'll see what happens when this other group comes to Edinburgh. Be interesting to see if they get the same reaction as Newcastle, should do
HappyHeart 14,374 Posted March 9, 2015 (edited) There's an interesting piece on the EDL website comparing Nazism and Islam. They might have a point if you took the passages quoted literally. People who defend Islam state that interpretation of the Quaran is unfair and draw parallels with the Bible and nasty bits in there too....I guess extremists of any persuasion will use the texts for their advantage. Islam does seem tends to attract a higher % of 'practicing' Muslims than Christianity does 'practicing' Christians...by that i mean they take the 'laws' more seriously like what to eat and drink etc, where a lot of Christians won't impose restrictions on themselves but will still call themselves 'Christian'...basically what I'm saying is that I suppose you have to be more 'hard line' in Islam to call yourself a Muslim. Which in itself may steer you to be less accepting of and more sympathetic with those extremists who take the 'laws' very literally. I've met a few hypocritical Muslims too who will not eat pork or allow their children to, but will happily get drunk. Perthbum 5,725 Posted March 9, 2015 Muslims I know are not at all like the way Muslims are portrayed in the media and white people who do not mix or work with them, most muslims I know love a drink, love to socialise with anyone, love going to clubs, love football, love their life in the UK. flag of convenience 3,987 Posted March 9, 2015 I know, isn't it hypocritical... Well no if you know Islam. Young are tolerated to bend the rules at least until undertaking the Haj. Just because people are described as Muslim, it doesn't mean they live every/any thing they are expected to adhere to in the book.
