Brisbane property market

Just spent the day in Brisbane and really liked it. We only saw three areas today but Redhill was a particular favourite. Loved the green, hilly streets and it was very quiet, despite being really close to Waterworks road and, apoarently, only 3ks from the cbd. Do any of you live there or know it well? What do you think? Are the buses to the cbd ok? On the basis that we liked Redhill, what other places might you recommend?

Thanks.

Mark

Apart from Red Hill/Paddington with access to Latrobe Tce you could also look Rosalie Village in lower Paddington. Rosalie floods so you have to be careful to choose a house not on the flood maps but it is a lovely lively family friendly place to live and so convenient.

It's one of the favourite places I've lived. Rosalie is only 2km to the city and you can walk, cycle, bus or get the train 1 stop from Milton train station. The local traffic is generally very light when you know the ways to go and the whole inner west is an easy drive to the CBD, including in peak hour.

Rosalie Village is centred on Nash St and has a bunch of restaurants/cafes/deli's/garden centre/ice cream shops/cinemas etc.

Here's a selection of places in Rosalie Village to give you an idea what it is like:

One thing that makes Rosalie so pleasant is that as well as the village shops it is also right next to a beautiful park, Gregory Park, known to the locals as pencil park:

It's often full or kids and adults playing or having parties. Great to grab a coffee or ice-cream and head over to the park:

Rosalie has a very well regarded primary school named Milton State School:

And the excellent Rosalie Creche & Kindergarten that we love which has been hosting local children for 100+ years:

Rosalie is in the shadow of the lovely old government house on the hill:

It has variety of housing from expansive historic queenslanders to character cottages.

Thanks a lot, Fish. It looks really nice!

Also in Rosalie/Milton is a new park opened on the site of the old Brisbane tennis centre, across the road from Milton State School. We were there for the first time this weekend. It lacks shade but there are lots of BBQs for kids parties and a great kids playground. DEfinitely best for older kids as there was limited toddler equipment but still an excellent facility.

Ascot has Eagle Farm Market every Sunday and neighbouring Hamilton has Eat Street both of which are worth a visit.

As we were told when first arriving, every area has a certain number of coffee shops etc, it transport links which make the main difference.
