usplus4
Hi, could anybody give me any info on being a joiner/carpenter in oz please ? My husband is a joiner in the uk I think it would be a carpenter in australia though ? He has 13 years experience and works for our local council. Would he need to retrain to gain australian qualifications ? What type of opportunities are there for work and what type of salary could he be looking at ? Thank you in advance for any help. Celt Down Under
If he has formal qualifications, he probably would not have to re-train. It would all depend on what line of work he is going into. Construction, renovations, manufacturing, general maintenance. Not sure what opportunities are available in various areas. Construction is cyclical, highs and lows. Check on the various job websites such as Seek to see what is available.
usplus4
He is qualified her as a level 3 which is the highest here I wasnt sure how they would transfer over. I think renovations/general maintanence would suit him more as he works on public buildings here. Thank you for your reply.
