JockinTas 2,207 Posted July 1, 2016 ^^^^ Snow is pretty to look at (especially in pics) but believe me PB, having worked out in it for a few years - I hate the bloody stuff now. Worked for vets in the Lake District and Switzerland - funny how some cows, sheep and horses like to calf/lamb/foal when the weather takes a turn for the worse and sometimes in the middle of the night. Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away

Johndoe 13,043 Posted July 3, 2016 . . I've been pruning the flower heads on my grevillias and callistemon as soon as they peaked to prevent them seeding. This has resulted in them continuing to produce flower right into the middle of winter as it is now, in fact, they're more prolific than in spring or summer. As nothing else is flowering in my area, I'm being blessed with birds that seem oblivious to me in their quest for pollen (that's the yellow on their beak and face). I got within 3 metres of these miners an hour ago callistemon by Kevin Dickinson, on Flickr Nosisy miner (1) by Kevin Dickinson, on Flickr Nosisy miner (2) by Kevin Dickinson, on Flickr Nosisy miner (3) by Kevin Dickinson, on Flickr Nosisy miner (4) by Kevin Dickinson, on Flickr Nosisy miner (5) by Kevin Dickinson, on Flickr See my art here: https://kevindickinsonfineartphot.smugmug.com/ Copies free to PIO members. VERYSTORMY 3,405 Posted July 4, 2016 Yesterday at the top of Long Walk. We entered the great park at Bishopsgate entrance, walked through the woods off the beaten track to the Copper Horse and took this from there looking down the Long Walk to Windsor Castle. It could be mid 20'sC in London and 14C in Edinburgh. That's what it was like when I was back one summer. Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away

Scotland is a different story of course lol That's what I'm getting at. The distance between Edinburgh and London is about 400 miles but the weather can be so very different on the same day. Just like Australia - which is much larger - the weather varies enormously on the same day. People are basking in the heat up in Darwin and we in Tassie are wrapped up in winter woolies - snow on the mountains.
