Have you looked to see if you can pass the skills assessment and if any states are sponsoring?

Sponsorship is very hard to get from overseas I'm afraid.

Dave, a 457 is rarely the most suitable visa and it is very hard to get a sponsor from overseas. Tell us a bit more about yourself and we can advise if there may be better options.

I've been to oz on holiday and fell in love with the place :-)

I have a wife and two boys

I've only been doing Refrigeration and Air conditioning for 2 year odd but ive got my FGAS (City & Guilds 2079) and my Split AC (Heat Pump) Installation & Commissioning

(City & Guilds 2081)

that's about all really

Have you tried a points test? You will find it if you go to http://www.immi.gov.au and search for the 189, 190 or 489 visas. These would be much better options for you versus the 457.

Also, look at the job on the list and if will tell you who the assessing authority is. Then check with them what you need to pass the skills assessment.
