mogsandrovers Posted June 25, 2014 Share Posted June 25, 2014 hey guys Were emigrating to OZ next year on my 457 visa hopefully Ive previously worked in OZ as a nurse so hopefully AHPRA wont take long. Im a specialist HDU / recovery . surgical nurse Q - where are all the Adelaide nurse jobs though? Theres hardly any advertised and even when you go into employers main recruitment, it states NO vacabcies at present Worrying as Adelaide is where we'd like to move to:frown: PLan B is Brisbane as the Mater there do a lovely relocation assistance package Which leads to my next Q Has any nurse been successful in gaining any relocation assistance in SA? ali Posted June 25, 2014 Share Posted June 25, 2014 I know WA have a freeze on recruitment at the moment, more jobs are being advertised that say preference to Citizens and Permanent residents - could be similar in SA. There are however, jobs being advertised but they clearly state PR or citizenship is required. Also, bear in mind the delays in AHPRA currently are not because people have not got experience in Australia, it is to do with your education and if you trained in the UK. Lots of people have been waiting since October and it appears that people are just starting (2 people) to have received letters from AHPRA. Barbie Posted June 26, 2014 Share Posted June 26, 2014 I have also been looking for a Job with sponsorship and L have AHPRA LOE but am finding it difficult in all the states.... a few vacancies came up in Sydney but they want immediate start which is like in 10 weeks time but have a degree to finish ( Ends July) and was hoping to fly out January. They effectively have to get rid of the equivalent of one Adelaide hospital over the next 3 years (600 beds). They are building a NEW RAH which will require staffing, but the chances are likely that it will be mothballed on completion. PR is costly because you need an ANMAC assessment which costs about $1300. Then, when you have that, you have to get Registered with AHPRA, and then your PR Visa costs anything from $6k if you use a Registered Migration Agent (which I highly recommend BTW). Then you have flights, Health Insurance, etc. For a single nurse, the cost to migrate easily tots up to $10k, so you REALLY need to give it some very deep thought before making the move. HOWEVER, the one big advantage of PR is that you can move around Oz at will, so if you're in Perth and you suddenly fancy a job in Cairns, there are no legal restrictions to prevent you doing so. With an Employer 457 you are stuck with the sponsoring employer for 4 years, and with State Sponsored visas you are restricted to the sponsoring state. A lot of skilled nurses are due to retire very soon leaving a skills shortage on the wards. With more and more jobs being filled by new grads - who are lovely and all - but the wards have to have an even skill mix. There might be 5 vacancies on one ward, but the NUM would want to see some of those vacancies filled by experienced nurses and some by new grads to have a good skill mix and safe working practice environment. Its a Latter Of Eligibility from APHRA.... that is wat you get after applying for nurse registration and you have to present to any AHPRA office with in a year of getting it so that you activate your registration and be able to work. My application (which was the general application as ive previously been registered) stated that tertiary and secondary education taught in English passes as English competency. aw well, if they want more tests from me they can ask I did OET because am not a UK Citizen and will be travelling on a passport from a country not nominated on the application forms which are UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa even though i have a City and Guilds Diploma, in IT, Diploma in Nursing (MH), Currently studying for top up Degree and over 10yrs in UK.
