Guest Stu1980
Has anyone visited Aus on a working holiday visa and ended up staying and getting residency? If so how did you do this? This is a route l intend to take. Painting and decorating is my trade and hopefully l intend to find a sponsor while im there. 28th December im off!! Guest Gollywobbler
Hi Stu My sister did it, some years ago when she was 21/22 or so. During her year on a WHM, she became friendly with one of the temp employers and they sponsored her to stay on. She was on a temp skilled visa for about 4 years, then they sponsored her for Permanent Migration in the skilled stream. Because all this was 20-25 years ago, it wouldn't be worth naming the visa subclasses even if I knew what they were. Reading this thread would, I think, assist you even though the facts are a bit different from your own. http://gomatildaforums.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1066053782/m/9001035102?r=2751016102#2751016102 This link might also describe a viable route for you, though not for the lass in the thread above: http://gomatildaforums.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1066053782/m/4061005002 Personally (speaking from the hoary old age of 50!) I reckon that for someone of your age with your sort of skills, these WHM visas really are a gold-plated "Try before you buy" option with Oz. Best of luck and I hope it will work out brilliantly for you. Gill
