Tea4two
Hi all My daughter was born in OZ just a few weeks ago and I wondered whether anyone can advise what I need to do to register her birth in the UK. I have an Australian birth cert for her but wondered what I need to do UK wise. I also would like to know if she is an Australian citizen?? - we are both permanent residents. Thanks in advance. Quoll
Get her a passport - Form C2. If you have PR she's an Aus citizen and will need her Aus passport in order to leave the country
wakeboard1980
You won't register her birth, to get a birth certificate, as such. You can apply for citizenship by descent and get a passport as Quoll has said.
Guest
Agree with the above. You don't get a BC from the UK as she was not born there. She'll only ever have an Aus BC. She can have UK citizenship by descent and hold a UK passport. And yes, what Quoll said re Aus citizenship
northshorepom
As above UK doesn't issue birth certs for babies born in certain other countries whose system & certification is similar to that of the UK (of which Australia is one). Your Aus birth cert is enough to obtain a UK passport for her. And yes, as above, if you have PR then she is an Aus citizen so get the Aus passport for her - will be quicker and cheaper than a UK one.
