Activation of visa

Recommended Posts

Hi there, we are just looking at flights for activating our visas. We have WA sponsorship and have to activate our visas. We are looking to make the actual move in 2016.

Do we have to fly to Perth to activate the visas or can we say go on holiday to Sydney?

thanks

From memory my visa grant specified that the 'initial entry' into australia needed to be before a certain date. This meant just entering Australia. Having said that my visa is a 175 (independent) so not the same. Check your visa grant letter for any stipulations but I'd be v surprised if it's any different. You can email your case officer if you need 'official' confirmation.

Me and my wife had to activate our 176 WA visas before July 2013...We flew to Perth Intl Airport...as WA was our Sponsoring Government ..

It is always better to land first time and activate 176/189 visas at airports of the sponsoring states.....Just to avoid any unnecessary questions and hassles at immigration.....

But I have heard that we can activate the PR visas in any city ...But I dont know current rules and regulations..Better ask MARA Agent for 100% info updates..

This is purely my opinion as I do risk assessment to the limit...:)

Cheers

Njoy Australia....

You can activate your visa in any city. When you do finally move to WA, you need to register your arrival with the WA State Migration Dept which then starts your 2 year commitment of living and working in WA.
