TheWildHaggis
Folks or should i say G'day, Help!!!, This has happened all very suddenly, I am moving to Perth in Feb along with with my Wife and three kids (8y/o, 6y/o and 3y/o) I will be working in Hay St, so looking for any recommendations of areas to rent close by with decent schools. We wont have a car so nothing to far away. Lookign at a max budget of 650AUS a week but the cheaper the better. Any advice?
Sammy1
The closer you rent to the city the more expensive it is. You would be very hard pushed to get even a decent apartment for $650 a week in the city area. You may need to consider moving a bit further out. DuffieldDownunder
I work on Hay Street, 553 to be exact. We rent in Woodvale, a brisk walk to Whitfords station - 585 a week. I'd suggest you loot at a map of the Mitchell Freeway, the trains run up the middle, and find a suburb. Hay Street is a long street that seems to start at number 1 from each end
TheWildHaggis
Is it possible to arrange a rental from the UK or do we actually have to be in Perth before we can arrange rentals? And can somebody take me through the process, ie what's required ?
gpo1971
Go onto http://www.realestate.com.au and look for rentals in West Perth, Subiaco and that locale. Be prepared, it is very expensive around there, very nice though. Use the map function to search other suitable areas, and look for train stations etc. as you go. Although, dependent where you are on Hay St could mean a walk, it's a long road. I think it will be nigh-on impossible to get anything before you get here, other than a short-term holiday rental. When you do think about a long-term rental, you will have to attend openings, sometimes public, sometimes private, then apply for the place. Have lots of bond, rent and references handy.
