Child visa

Recommended Posts

Guest dannii28

Good morning everyone!

so we have our perm 175 visa but we need to get a child visa for our little boy. We received an email update the other day with the prices from 1st September :arghh:

so we thought we will go to oz with our little boy on a tourist visa and pay the extra to apply for his visa onshore.

just called London to ask if this would be ok and they said we could get stopped at the border and questioned why we don't have a perm visa for the baby.

has anyone else taken this route? She didn't say we would be refused entry just we may be asked the question.

we will find it really hard to pay for his visa, flights and relocating in a matter of months from each other.

having lived in oz for a yr previously we are confident we could go over get settled then apply for his visa before his tourist one expires.

any advice would be great

thanks

I have heard of people doing this before but obviously there is always the risk that you will get stopped at the border and they have to tell you that.

If your visa has just been granted, why didn't you add your little boy to your application while it was still being processed? Or has he only just been born? Either way, congratulations

applied for 309/100 19/1/10, 309 VISA GRANTED 28/4 - arrived Sydney 4/2/11, second stage visa app lodged Jan 2012, PR visa (100) GRANTED 7/6/12, now waiting for babywellie to come join us!

Thanks was a long process but defiantly worth all the hard work!

visa was granted while I was pregnant and we had to validate before he was born due to meds expiring so need a fresh new expensive visa for him

Doesn't your plan mean bringing these things together though? Why not apply for the visa in UK and then by the time it comes through you will have had more time to save up for the move.

hi rupert didn't see your reply sorry for the delay!

well if we apply for the visa now and pay £1800 then we are asked for meds an police checks very soon after (which others have said they have had it happen to them) we only have 12 months to save and move over

if we get started on the move and get over we will be earning more and will have less outgoings so will have ( up to 12 months if we are granted the longest tourist visa) more time to just pay for the visa

So to apply now we have 12 months to pay for everything but to hold off on the visa we have 24 (ideally) to pay for everything?

does this make sense?

Would be great if anyone on here has done or knows anyone who has gone this way about it?

Doesnt make sense to me, but if it does to you then that is all that matters.

You can debate the plan infinitum but you will not know whether you are going to have a problem at immigration until you get there. Getting the child visa first and you know you won't ave a problem.
