MammaCass
Morning people. Please can anyone offer any advice on job searching. I have AHPRA registration and I am hoping to secure sponsorship within the Perth area. Can anyone recommend any websites? I have expressed interest with DoH WA. Thanks in advance x
Carolann
Seek.au seems to have jobs for Ahpra registered. Well done in getting sorted with AHPRA, I'm still waiting to be registered. Have now moved over to Queensland and just waiting for my registration. Good luck with the job hunting

xxlornaxx
You need to have a skills assessment through anmac, be registered with ahpra and have a visa obviously! Lots of info on anmac and ahpra and immigration websites

lolo240
Do I need to do the English test? Or does it depend on the amount of points you have for the visa? Thanks
kyliedonut
@lolo240 you need to do it, I'm afraid!
lolo240
@lolo240 you need to do it, I'm afraid! :arghh: not looking forward it tbh. Was going to do the PTE but it needs to be the IELTS i think!! Are you able to tell em what supporting documents anmac need? Cant find anything on the website. Dont sit the english test until the 13/02 so wanted to get other things organised thank you
kyliedonut
If you are not claiming for extra points with the IELTS e.g. you don't need all 8s for more visa points....then you only need to get 7s. Practice, practice, practice!
stevej
We are at this early stage ourselves with my wife being the main applicant as a nurse. We need IELTS for visa points but you do not need it to emigrate as a nurse if you follow the system of applying to AHPRA first using the primary pathway, then modified skills assessment. hope this helps
Mirmai
Evening all. its been awhile since I've visited here! was hoping to have made the big move by now, but circumstances happened!!! Offer just accepted on the house now, so thought it would be the right time to get AHPRA sorted (think you can guess where this is going!!) I've roughly done my CV, but those niggling AHPRA doubts are continuously creeping in. It would be a great help if anyone would be willing to PM me a copy of their CV (personal info excluded obvs!), I know that this is really cheeky of me to ask... :ssign16: (also - stupid question - but if I'm already sending certified copies of my transcripts and qualifications with my AHPRA application, do I need to duplicate them for my CV?? And, do I need to send certified copies of all the clinical/procedural skills that I've done??) Thank you in advance guys xx
kyliedonut
No, one copy of your certified transcripts/grades etc from uni would suffice, I'd say. I would list all your clinical skills within your employer reference, and then it would be signed by them as true. If there are specialist skills that you do, perhaps get those certificates copied and certified, if you are mentioning them within the application form? TravellingKatherine
Hi all, New to this thread and as useful as all the information is there are lots of pages to trawl through so sorry if this has been asked before. I am a staff nurse with 3 years experience currently working on a surgical ward. I went to Australia before my training and loved Melbourne but could be sold on other places if people have amazing experiences to share. But I do have a couple of questions. Does anyone work in Australia/Victoria already? What is nursing like in Australia? Is it better to work for the public or private sector? (I'm a bit baffled at where to look for jobs and how to apply). What are wages like in Australia? I know everyone says they are higher but I think cost of living is too. I am going on my own so my earnings are the only income so don't want to be permanently skint or having to travel for hours to work to be able to afford to live. The info I have managed to find online suggested Victoria are the worst paid in the whole country? Any advice Thank you Katherine
rogersonj
Hi, I am sitting here in blind panic! I have been offered registration in principle by AHPRA, which just needs me to attend office in person upon arrival in Oz. I have been offered a job as a mental health service manager in Sydney on a 457 visa, but yet to start the process. It hasn't been until I have looked into this forum I have seen that possibly I need a skills assessment by ANMAC. Do all 457 applicants have to have this in addition to AHPRA registration? HELP!!!!! I don't know anything about a 457 visa but having gone for a PR visa I had to do ANMAC in addition to AHPRA. AHPRA are the "NMC" i effect whereas ANMAC are solely about your eligibility for the visa based on your skills etc. AHPRA are the tougher agency to satisfy so you are already on good footing! ANMAC essentially want the same stuff as AHPRA (and yes sadly also want it certified!). I would check out the DIBP site and ANMAC to work out if you need a skills assessment. Congrats on your job, I'm MH too, seems like a great time to try a different career path!

Hi, from my understanding you don't need Anmac assessment if you have a 457 visa. You need a skills assessment for a PR . You can come on a 457 and work as long as you have AHPRA. Out of interest, how long did it take to get ahpra registration? Good luck!
xxEmmaWillyxx
Hiya everyone my husband and I have decided to make the move to Australia, we're at the very beginning of things so could do with a bit of advice please!my plans were to do IELTS, then anmac then visa 189 then aphra. What order did people do? Also we were looking at WA but I know there's a job freeze at the minute, we're hoping it will be gone by the time our visas are granted etc. I qualified 2013 and have 2 years ICU experience which is where I'm hoping to work . Any help would be massively appreciated, thanks guys xx
kyliedonut
@xxEmmaWillyxx It really does depend on when you would want to make the move. You need to present yourself in Australia within a year of your AHPRA being granted, and also a year from the date of your visa grant (or police check/medical, whichever is earliest). xxEmmaWillyxx
Thanks Kyliedonut! Hopefully that means we only have to go once if both aphra and visa are filled in close together? Also I can see you got really good scores in your ielts, do you know any good resources for practicing? Thanks again xx
