Guest Gollywobbler
Hi Swifty You should see an experienced (and mara-registered Migration Agent.) There is a type of visa called a Former Resident Visa, but trying to obtain one is definitely not DIY territory. The majority of FRV applications fail, I am told. If you are under 45 and have skills which are in demand in Oz, I suspect it might be easier, cheaper and quicker just to apply in one of the skilled visa categories. In terms of experts, I would suggest either Alan Collett at Go Matilda (A Google search will produce) or Tony Kidd at http://www.mygreatconsultants.com.au Tony Kidd is an Australia. He holds a secondary qualification as a Registered Migration Agent on top. He worked in-house as a solicitor at the Migration Review Tribunal for several years, so he has hands-on experience of advising the Members of the Tribunal about the legal situation in cases like yours. Hope this helps you to get started. Also, have a look at http://www.immi.gov.au Look under migration as a skilled worker and also tell its search engine to find Former Resident Visa. With the latter, is your girlfriend able to meet the basic criteria for it? Best wishes Gill
