Goochie
The wife and I dont have private medical cover and nor do we want it. We're permanent residents so are catered for adequately. So when do I have to pay the Medicare Levy? Is it taken out of my pay with other tax? Do I have to pay it at tax return time? I'm talking only about the Medicare Levy not the Medicare Levy Surcharge. Guest JK2510
Tax return time I'm sure.
Alaska
I think that DH's is taken out of his pay automatically. When I did a google for pay calculator it takes it out and that figure exactly matches DH's take home pay. We certainly didn't have to pay anything back last tax return time. http://www.paycalculator.com.au/
rosiew
Don't worry - it comes out with your tax. It is not listed separately on payslips (usually). If you have paid too much it will come back to you at return time just like income tax.
Skani
So when do I have to pay the Medicare Levy? Is it taken out of my pay with other tax? Do I have to pay it at tax return time? It's taken out of your pay. If, for some reason, the correct amount is not paid during the tax year, an adjustment will be made once you lodge your tax return.
