Wee kimmy Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Hi, hope someone can help, my husband is a fitter/Welder with nearly 20years experience, how would he go about getting a sponsor for a 457 visa?
Rupert Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Have you tried http://www.seek.com.au? Is working in Australia for a couple of years your objective? I am asking because sometimes people think that 457 visas are permanent visas or will "convert" to a permanent visa down the line.
Wee kimmy Posted April 28, 2013 Author Posted April 28, 2013 Hi Rubert, We would go over for a couple of years to see how we like it, but if a permanent visa came up that would be great. As my husband is trade qualified we thought a 457 was a better option. There so many visa,s it so hard to no.

No not really, it is normally harder for trades to get 457s because there are less willing sponsors for trades. It is worth looking into it though of course, perhaps his trade is an exception. You don't say how old you are, but you mention 20 years of experience so I am guessing not a spring chicken  don't leave it too long to get a PR visa, it gets harder with age.
Wee kimmy Posted April 28, 2013 Author Posted April 28, 2013 My husband is 35, he has been a welder from the age of 16, when he started his training. We had been intouch with a recruitment agency, but I think they were not legit, as my husband has sent numerous emails with no reply unfortunately we paid them a sum of £400 an that was meant to get his certificates changed over! Would you have any advise on wat may be the easiest visa for us to apply for? Other than 457.
