Guest littlesarah Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 If so, what was the food like? Odd question, I know, so I'll explain: last time I flew BA was in 2010. Outbound, the food service was terrible: we had breakfast right before landing at Heathrow, with the previous food service at the start of the flight shortly after departing BKK. That breakfast consisted of a small finger roll about 3cm wide filled with ham and cheese or something similar. I'd hoped it was just related to the strike action (which had ended the day before we flew, but although the return leg was a little better the food offering was, in my view, rather stingy (compared to flights before and since then). Rumour has it that the food offering has improved since then (one would certainly hope so), but I'm just wanting to clarify that so I know whether I need to put some food in my hand luggage. I don't expect gourmet food - typical airline fodder is perfectly acceptable as far as I'm concerned, but never before or since have I got off a plane feeling like I could eat almost anything! I couldn't drive to the motorway services quick enough! (It's pretty unusual for me to be that desperate for food - I'm one of those people who forgets to eat when I'm busy, so that says a lot, really.)
samc Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 hello, I returned last week after a holiday in Australia we flew in and out with BA, food was quite nice not the best airplane food but certainly not bad, we got full English breakfast or omelet for breakfast, did get a bit peckish between meals they only came round with drinks inbetween no snacks like when we flew in 2008. The puddings sometimes were a bit odd but think thats because they had come from Singapore where our stop over was. sam
Guest littlesarah Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Thanks Sam. That was exactly the kind of info I was after. S
Quinkla Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I have found myself quite hungry at the end of longhaul flights on other carriers too - including Qantas between Sydney and Hong Kong. Even though hey are supposed to have a help yourself pantry, it contains only biscuits and they ran out after a couple of hours.
Guest littlesarah Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I think the help yourself thing is really just a way of cutting costs, which I don't really mind. I'd rather have fewer snacks & cheaper fares! But that last BA trip was ridiculous. Since then I always take a few snacks just in case, or get food at the airport if there's time.
