milliem 2,082 Posted March 17, 2013 Hi Folks Two weeks ago I instructed my agent I wanted to break lease. They advertised the property. My neighbours told me today that on Wednesday last week there were about six real estate agents in the property without my knowledge. It looks like the current agent has been given the sack. Does this leave me just paying the rent for another 3 months? do I have any rights at all? The new agent has advised me to make a claim at the court to seek an order for a settlement figure. Anyone have any experience of this? Millie x Visa: 475 regional GRANT 22/6/12, touchdown 4/11/12 . Applied 189 PR visa 13/11/14 Grant 20/1/
newjez 9,810 Posted March 17, 2013 As far as I an aware - no one has the right to enter the property without your consent. Nearly there! Don't drop the ball now guys! Vaccines are weeks away. Stay safe!
readstogo 10 Posted March 17, 2013 Have a good read of your lease agreement. Look for break of tenancy clause, and the one that mentions living without landlord/agent turning up without due notice. Sometimes they hide a condition that states if you give notice that you have to let them show the property to prospective tenants. However, you still should be given ample nnotice that someone will be coming round. Good luck! 309/100 posted 17/05/13, received by Australia House 20/05/13, payment taken 21/05/13, CO allocated 28/05/13, Medicals req after 20/08/13, Police check completed 15/09/13, Kids' are Aussie citizens 18/09. I am worried about the fact that it was being advertised and now it isn't. I am waiting for a response from the agent. Millie x Visa: 475 regional GRANT 22/6/12, touchdown 4/11/12 . blossom 3,079 Posted March 17, 2013 Maybe you could get onto them and say that you assume as advertising has ceased that they have found a new tennent to take over the lease? Has two beautiful Aussie little girls :-)
milliem 2,082 Posted March 19, 2013 Phew Finally a response. it wasn't other agents after all but prospective tenants from the existing agent. Some notification of people coming would have been nice. Anyhow can't complain too much as they found new tenants, meaning I don't have to pay two rents. They move in six days after we leave.
