ripefritter
Hi all. Just found this site tonight. Was wondering if someone could give me some advice. I'm a UK based, time served Pipefitter, just turned 54 in December. Would love to visit/work in Australia. I gather I'm too old for the sponsorship/emigration route. Was just wondering if there are any other options open to me. I'm sure there's an answer to my question on here somewhere, but it's almost my bed-time here. Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated. TIA
Rupert
I don't think that there is an age limit on the temporary employer sponsored visa, however I imagine it would be quite difficult to progress this. There otherwise really are not many options out there no. Do you have children in Australia? Or have vast sums of money to invest?
lebourvellec
Welcome to PIO There is no age limit with 457 visa, but to get PR by employer sponsored, you need to to have worked for your Employer for 4 years and be on the High Income Threshold for pay for all the 4 years, which is currently $123,000. http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/skilled-workers/_pdf/pesp-exemptions.pdf
ripefritter
Thanks for the replies. Rupert....Kids not old enough to flee the nest yet but I keep nagging them to stick in at school and depart this broken isle at the earliest opportunity. Sadly no vast sums of money to invest......curse you lottery machines for not choosing my numbers! lebourvellec....Didn't think I'd be eligible for PR at my age. Probably not an option really, I doubt the wife would take the plunge. She would't want to leave her dogs behind and I have no intention of moving them halfway across the world just so i can fall over them in a different country. Was really only looking at working out there for a couple of years but who knows? Will keep plugging away and see what turns up. Thanks again.
