Deni
hi there, i would appreciate any advice people who have attained a de-facto visa? I have been with my australian partner for nearly three years after initially meeting in Oz while I was travelling on a working holiday visa. When my visa came to an end we moved to London ( my partner attained a Uk Working holiday visa) as his visa is due to expire in May we want to move back permently and I will need to get a de-facto visa granted. We have lived together for 2 years and have proof of our relationship being genuine: however I am wondering is it best to apply for the visa in Australia or here in the UK? I have heard the processing time can take up to 6-8month and am worried that we wont have enough time to get the visa granted in time?
lebourvellec
Welcome to PIO Offshore Partner processing is taking about 9 months currently. Onshore is more expensive and currently around 13 months. If you lodge your application and it is not granted before you are going, you can travel on a Visitor visa, but you will need to leave Australia for a few days for the visa to be granted. But you will not be able to work. If you do decide to travel on a Visitor Visa and lodge application in Australia, you need to make sure that you dont have no further stay condition on your visa.
