Chris OHare
Hi, I'm moving from Adelaide back to the UK in March, just wondered if anyone who has already or is about to do this can advise on a shipping company? I'm getting a few quotes as the one I've just had is over 40% more than what it cost to get here, good old Aus..! Thanks in advance Chris
Sapphire
We are finding the same, so much more expensive to get home. Been quoted about $8000 for a 20ft and $12000 for a 40ft. Same with flights, and pets, all so much dearer, than the journey here.
Guest
What about selling your stuff here? As stuff in Oz second hand is almost the full new price, you would be able to go home with less and just buy new. You may even get new for old with the money. There seems to be a much bigger market for 2nd hand stuff here in Oz so selling would be much easier than say in the UK

freeo74
We are moving back In Feb to London from Brisbane and we have literally sold everything during christmas holiday period on Gumtree. please if someone could advice on cheap and reliable shipping company . We moved back from Sydney a few months ago and used the movecube service from Sevenseas Worldwide. They deliver the trailer to your house and you load your items yourself into the movecube - we used a medium movecube which cost approximately $1000 and it arrived after 6 weeks. It was a really good option for us as we had sold our furniture however it allows you to pack items in which you would otherwise not try to bring. The other advantage aside from the cost is that if you opted for a shared container then your items could be moved around several times until the container is full, however with the movecube it is sealed when it is collected and not reopened until you receive it. tfarrell
I agree if you can sell stuff that you dont really like to lighten the load then do it in Oz... Ive sold stuff over Christmas and have made some money back... deffo more than it would cost to ship and store. I used OSS worldwide movers.. they handled our stuff from here... best quote I got... but I did bargain with 3 companies so dont be afraid to do that.
