Roxburgh Park

North to South

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Having just watched Wanted Down Under I was wondering what Roxburgh Park really was luck as you seem to get some lovely houses with a short commute into CBD compared to other areas - Berwick for example.

Would really appreciate some views from local residents to understand what it's really like and if it's suitable for a family with a young girl currently at infant school in the UK.

Thanks so Much

I would be very interested to find out too, I thought I had located all the affordable suburbs in Melbourne but haven't come across this one. Having now had a little look online it looks like a nice area with some lovely and affordable houses. Would like to find out what it's actually like plus schools etc, thanks.

Have a look at this web site some of the locals have posted about the area.

I would say that I would probably check it out thoroughly before moving there as I think there are probably good and bad areas there.

Thanks, I still think Frankston looks like the best place for us as a family, but obviously can't be sure until we get there and have a look at the place. We will still have a look at other places; Ringwood, Croydon, Eltham, Berwick, we don't want to be more than an hour from the CBD with good schools and would like to rent a 4 bed house for under $450pw as those areas seem to fit the bill.

I saw that too last night and was straight on it as you do seem to get good size house and hadn't really looked at that area but Stil quoting around 45 min commute to camberwell where job offer is and ideally want around half that journey time so back to searching!

Hi Davina, we've been to all of the places you are mentioning and we prefer Berwick and Frankston South. While they are a longish commute to the CBD we believe they are the best option for us for houses and primary schooling. We love Mount Eliza but think that it may just be too far to travel. Ringwood was nice, but for us we'd only choose to live there if we wanted a shorter commute. When are you moving ?

Hi Richselina, we are looking at moving out October this year but we are still waiting for visa grant. I have heard a few negatives about Berwick; mainly the traffic and the big housing estates going up around the area, but agree that the schooling and houses look good. Frankston South looks lovely and Frankston is looking more appealing too as I'm hearing more and more good things about it and the houses are very good value for money, closer to the station too. Schools are good. Of course it's just impossible to decide until we get there and have a good look around. We have 3 children who will be 7, 5 and 3 when we move out.

Hi Davina, I agree that there are some big estates going up around Berwick, but the centre has a nice village feel too it and there are some good schools too, especially primary. There is a great variety of houses in Berwick especially if you are looking for the modern contemporary open plan house. Frankston South is nice, but we didn't like Frankston when we were there. We both really like Mount Eliza and if I could do the commute to Melbourne each day then we'd be happy living there. I guess there is a balance between being on the coast or being inland. My preference is coast, but of all the inland towns we visited Berwick is the only one where we'd really want to settle. Good look with the visas. It's a great feeling when you get the nod and then all the planning you've down becomes a reality as it is for us now.
