hello everyone, new user here looking for any help or info i can get :)

im a 34 year old pest controller in wales, uk.

i have close family (uncles and cousins) living in Perth, Australia who have been there for about 20 years.

i have always wanted to join them and have decided to start the ball rolling this new year, but the amount of info online is just overwhelming to be honest, and i seem to keep hitting a brick wall with the visas as i don't have a desired trade that is in demand in oz :/

all the forms i have so far seen are pretty generic, and i feel my circumstances are quite different as i have a ready made home and family to join straight away, and with that feel very assured i will get work when im there, maybe not in a desired field but as a starting point, so mainly after any advice from anyone who has managed to emigrate with similar circumstances or can offer me some advice or pointers would be much appreciated, thanks in advance, Barry.

Hi barry, i am not defintley sure but i think that your family over in perth might be able to sponsor you to go and live over there, and then hopefully you would find work. im assuming since your family have been there for so long that they are now permenant residents or aussie citizens and if so they would be able to sponsor someone. as i said i am not 100% sure, but it might be worth looking into. jess

Hi Barry, what we found really useful when we initially decided we wanted to make the move was to go to some emigration fairs. That way you can have a chat with some migration agents and see what they suggest. There are usually quite useful talks by state governments and you can chat to their reps too. There are a couple in the next few months: http://www.downunderlive.co.uk/ and http://www.workingin-events.com/australia/

Hope that's of some help :)

To be sponsored by Family, you require an occupation on SOL 1, and this is only for a Provisional Visa, the days of being family sponsored is slowly coming to an end.

Your Occupation is not currently on lists for GSM or Employer Sponsored, therefore options would be re-training or Student visa, both come with risks as migration regulations change every year.

Having family in Australia would be of some limited help if Barry was in an occupation in demand, it is no help whatsoever as he is not (as he says he is not, I have not checked that).

There is no need to waste time on money on emigration fairs, when perusal of the skilled occupation lists can easily answer the question. Most people find those things a waste of time anyway, there is far more and better information more readily available on the internet.

Ring an agent,,, i found all the info mind boggling when we were looking to migrate and in the end ringing an agent was the simplest thing to do. They explained what visa options were open to us and how to apply. We used Visa Bureau but there are alot of agents on here who come highly recommended.

Good Luck with everything
