How much tax will be taking off me on a 50.000$ a year take home? thank you ever so much for taking the time to read and hopefully answer my question Allegria50
JonnoA
Hi Allegria, Not sure on transfer of 457 sponsorship costs, but I would suspect your employer would require any outlay to be paid back to them eg initial sponsorship costs, relocation costs etc but your new employer may be able to square the bill for you. There are bound to be some threads on here about that exact topic. One from a while ago: http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/jobs-careers/43349-transferring-457-visa-different-employer.html In terms of tax, on $50,000 salary (unless ive read it wrong) you will be taking home $800 a week roughly. Check out this link for tax amounts: http://www.taxcalc.com.au/ I'm still waiting final approval on my 457, but good luck! Jon
Allegria50
Hi JonnoA, Thank you for your answers, The only thing my employer paid for was the Visa, all other cost i paid myself so IF things turn realy bad he could only ask me to pay him the 2000$ he said he had to pay. I ve been on that link and it says there i can only change employer after 12 month. Now that scares me a lot as there is no way i can survive another year with him. As I m not sure if i can get into Detail on a posting, lets just say an Aussie would have taken him to Court long time ago. thank you for the tax info also Allegria50

If your employer paid $2000, this would have been all cost involved, including becoming a business sponsor, the cost of your visa, at the time was about $350. Another option if you are eligible is to look at General Skilled Migration.
Rupert
How much tax will be taking off me on a 50.000$ a year take home? What do you mean "how much tax will be taken off takehome". Take home means it is what you take home, so the tax has already come off. If thi number is before tax, then I don't think it is enough to qualify for the 457 visa is it? Allegria50
Hi Rupert, Well my Employer put that down when he applied for the sponsorship and my Visa was granted...so the 800$ a week must have been enough for immigration to accept him and me. Its not the money whats the trouble, i know as a chef/cook i can get paid more...its the constant name calling ,working 10 hours a day and having to worry every payday if i do get paid. After been in the workforce for almost 30 years this is just one dream gone horrible wrong :-(
