Nice suburbs in Brisbane

My husbands employer have an office in Brisbane, we are wanting to look at nice suburbs, good schools and not too far from the beach for our young family.

Previously we have always looked at Perth as our preference and Adelaide close second. The company he works for have openings at the Brisbane office, I already have family there which is appealing I just really want to live not too far from the sea, nice family suburb with good schools.

Can anyone give me some info on some good suburbs? and tell me what you love about Queensland, sell it to me.

Sorry cannot help you as I live in Victoria but if you join the Queensland forum there is a link at the foot of this one, you may get more help there.

There are a lot of people living in Brisbane who are on this forum but as its the weekend they are probably out and about doing what we do here in Aus on weekends, fish, beach, shop.

Queensland is fab, there is so much to see and do and a mass variety of scenery from golden beaches to green rain forests. Its amazing how quick you can move from We have been here 6 years and are enjoying life so far.

I agree with the above post that commuting distance needs to be your first consideration, especially if hubbys is working from the office daily. Considering Brisbane city has no beaches other than the man made one your next nearest beachside suburbs are probably around Redcliffe, Sandgate etc.

Hi

I am currently visiting friends in Brisbane in Redlands Bay and its lovely - not too far from anything really but you do need to drive - there is a stunning place called Raby Bay but houses are one million plus! There is another area just up the road called Victoria Point which is nice - if you want to know anything else just ask and ill message my friends for their opinion - hoope this helps

We love Queensland.

Wasn't our choice to come here (we had a job offer) and I hadn't spent much time here before (mainly Sydney and Perth) but we love it now. The weather, the scenery, bushwalking, beaches, the city, the Gabba. Did I mention the weather?

Anyway are you thinking north or south? How far from the city etc?

I was looking for good family areas with good schools. We wanted to be north for DH's job. Some of the areas we narrowed it down to were: Albany Creek, McDowall, Eatons Hill and Ferny Hills. I hear good things about The Gap too but that was a bit too far from DH's work.

Have a look at the myschool.edu.au website for school info - results, sizes, socio-economic information etc. That is where I started. Then we went driving and visiting when we arrived.

Good luck.

Thanks Alaska.

My cousin lives in Thornlands, I am now thinking that area, Victoria Point etc.... She says it is a nice area, near the beach, good schools etc... Do you know Thornlands at all?

My husband would be working in South Bank area of Brisbane.
