Guest Guest26012
Xmas tree down today, thank goodness! At this time of year, when we lived in the uk, I used to feel sad when the Xmas celebrations were over! The main reason for me was because January used to make me feel bleak. I don't have that feeling here, maybe it's the sunshine or the fact that we can hop off and go camping etc. or maybe it's just because its summer here in January! Do you feel sad when the festivities are over?
Sammy1
January always felt a bit flat in the UK, but here because the sun is shining and it's the holidays it has a completely different feel and the sunshine just makes me happy. I miss Christmas in the UK very much, but must admit I love January here. My children were out having a massive water fight on the lawn this afternoon having so much fun - love it. Alaska
I agree - I don't have the same down feeling here because it's summer and gorgeous weather. I felt a bit up and down over Christmas but feel much better now it's January whereas in the UK it would be the other way around!
SaffanZimbo
Very envious of those who are already living Downunder! Our tree will be coming down tomorrow and it all feels so bleak. We have had nearly a month of constant rain and on Boxing day OH and his friend took all the kids out for a walk on a adjoining farm. They came back after 1 hour, very muddy, cold and wet and now all 3 kids have colds. However, the kids enjoyed it immensely and our youngest (aged 3) would play outside in snow, sleet or rain as she is a real outdoor chid. We can't wait to get to Oz to be able to be outdoors every weekend! Fingers crossed our reccie goes well and OH gives the go ahead to start planning the big move.
Freckleface
I love Christmas but I'm not worried about it being over. It's summer and 2013 beckons with endless possibilities. :ssign19:

Rossmoyne
We have always de-Christmased the house on New Years Day because it felt that the Christmas season had then gone. The difference being that in England we were all depressed and sick of the winter weather... but in WA it means it is time to go holiday and party as it is summer! Do you feel sad when the festivities are over? OH and I were talking about this yesterday. I absolutely LOVE Christmas but I really hate January here in the UK. We were saying that we expect to feel a little sad next Christmas as we won't be with family and friends, but we're expecting to enjoy January a lot more! dmjg
The oh normally won't let me take the tree down until 12 days after Christmas for some reason I haven't found out about yet. But I had to do the floors and paint in the lounge so it was down straight after boxing day:biggrin: unfortunately this meant painting yesterday in 42 degrees. :chatterbox:
