Guest
Hi I have ordered broadband but have my new router I bought just a few months ago in the UK. My dilema is that the telephone sockets are different to the ones you buy in Australia Can you buy the cable that would fit the router and plug into the telephone line? Dorset
Yep, very straightforward. The connections on the back of the router are exactly the same, it is just the one cable that is different. I wish I had brought my homehub, but didn't!

My dilema is that the telephone sockets are different to the ones you buy in Australia Can you buy the cable that would fit the router and plug into the telephone line? Which model of router is it and who is your ISP? Is your service in Oz cable or DSL?
flybyknight
the big thing with routers is where you got it. if it was supplied by the providor free or not, its likely locked to them. they can be unlocked but it can be messy. if its shop brought, then all is good its the uk that has ropey plugs, the little square plug that goes into the router itself is the same as the standard phone socket out here. so no adaptors needed, just go. you may need a filter, but they are about $10. amibovered
Unless it has the A-Tick mark, which is unlikely you'll be breaking the law if you use it in Australia. http://www.acma.gov.au/WEB/STANDARD.PC/pc=PC_1784#modemfax
