robjeffrey88
Hi all, I have only recently come across this website, however, it does not mean I have only started thinking about moving to Australia! As it was only 3 years ago that I returned from my year long working holiday which I had done on my own (anyone reading this contemplating doing this, I would highly recommend, I was 20/ 21 at the time and had an amazing time!). I had also done my 88 days/ 3 months agriculture work for my second year visa. My dilemma is this; I want to go back! Now this is not a "new year blues, re-assesing my life", it's a "you've got experience now go back". I should really explain that theory. Basically, when I had left to go the first time I had no qualifications nor work experience that could prove to be any use! Now I have almost 3 years in generalist HR, Recruitment and Workforce experience and am soon to complete my Intermediate CIPD Diploma in Human Resources Management. What is the advise people would give me on here, should I wait for by chance a role to suddenly appear and I will then be taken to down under or should I go after this academic year (June 2013), give it a shot to get that international experience I so strongly desire and to finally live the life long ambition of moving to Australia? Someone on here had said, and I quote: "I write this thinking that a job for the both of us, and a long term rental is next on the list, to ensure our new life continues, some may say that find a job first, before you leave your homeland, would be the logical approach, but, life is too short, and if you wait for the right time to go, it would be too late, I could go deeper, but will avoid that, as each of us who make the decision to move, do it for a reason, and it’s not easy to come to terms with, and have deep and full respect for the ones who jump on the plane and wave goodbye to what has been familiar." This is the best way I could describe how I am feeling, so in a way, I have answered my own question. But what I would like is to hear other people#s opinions and experiences, both negative (as in, I done this and it didn't work out, however, I done this and I did. NOT silly boys getting angry because they can) or anything positive really. I would be ever so grateful and if anyone knows of any Workforce/ Forecast Analyst/ Planning roles going then please do let me know! Many thanks in advance for anyone who does take the time to read this and reply. I look forward to hearing from you all!!
VERYSTORMY
Well, starting point is probably going to be finding out if you will qualify for a visa. Have a look at the immi.gov.au web site and do the visa wizard.
Rupert
Hi and welcome to PIO I have read that a few times now and to be honest I am not sure what the question is? The only one I can see is whether anyone knows of any planning roles? Was that it (its a no from me if so), or was there something else you actually want to know? To your comments on waiting to find a job, I am not sure why (or if, cos your post was hard to understand) you think people would be advising this. I have been reading the forums for a while and people normally say the least effective way of finding a route to Australia is job hunting whilst overseas and without a visa! robjeffrey88
Sorry I can sometimes babble on and it makes less sense as I go!my main question was do I sit in the UK applying for jobs or would it actually be best to apply for my second year working holiday visa and hope that I can get a job in my field out there. But you had answered that at the end, so thank you!
hubbert0403
Hi, just reading your post, We came over on a 457 visa as hubby was offered a job, I have extensive administration experience including 3.5 years HR generalist, I have today applied for my 67th job! Although i have CIPD and other qualifications and more than the average experience, unless you have the relevant HR experience for Australia it seems you cannot work in that field, I must also point out aswell out of all these jobs only 4 were direct HR roles, (Gold Coast CBD area). Even if you apply for admin work they like you to have accounts experience, so that is another thing to consider. Although I love what we have here I am a little more than frustrated about not getting a job, so maybe your best option is to look at the skills list, and obtain as much experience in other admin fields as you can. Hope this helps
Guest littlesarah
I would say that it depends what it is you're after. Some of us came here with the intention of not leaving, so a permanent visa was what we really needed/wanted. However, if you just want to get out here, have an adventure and see if you can make it your long-term life, you could try the WHV route. Though of course, if it doesn't work out you'll have to head back to the UK (and find a new job, if you quit one to come here). It's not necessarily easy to get employer sponsorship because the employer has to make commitments to the employee they're sponsoring, and of course if it doesn't work out both parties stand to lose to some degree. I agree that you should investigate your visa options, and Hubbert0403 has kindly offered some specific info too, so that's all for you to consider. It may be worth considering staying in the UK a while longer to get some experience that is highly sought after, but I'd suggest you figure out visa options first, and then you can make an informed decision about whether you want to come here again, and if so when and how. Good luck with it all.
