danskitt
Hi All, We are flying out next week to start our new lives in Sydney. We have 3 properties that we are keeping in the uk and renting out that will earn about £10000 in profit every year. I am wondering if we get a tax allowance even though we don't live in the UK. Also would we have to pay tax in Australia on those profits? Thanks Dan
Alan Collett
Hello Dan. * Yes, you should receive a UK personal allowance, given you are a UK citizen. * The rental profits are though taxable in Australia, assuming you have a permanent residency visa or are an Aus citizen. * Have you completed the Non Resident Landlord form, NRL1? * See also the FAQs here: http://www.gmtax.com.au/faqs/ Best regards.
