pKtito
Hi! Next February/March I will be moving to Sydney with a 457 visa and questions are starting to pop up. I will be working at the Riverside Corporate Park in North Ryde and I have no clue what's the best area to live. I love living close to the city centre where I can find pubs, restaurants, some fun and people around but at the same time I don't want to spend half of my day stuck in traffic on my way to the office. As I'm going on my own I prefer sharing a flat/house with someone and the budget will be limited to $1250 per month. For those who are already in Sydney, any ideas/advices/recommendations? I will be happy to invite you for a beer once I'm over there! Thanks! P.S: I'm Spanish not Pom... but I don't think there are too many of us around there who can give me a hand! Chillers
Hmm as for areas Drumoyne or Balmain would probably be a good choice for you. Balmain is a very nice suburb, lots of Restaurants and Bars very close to the city, only 5 mins in a ferry to Circular Quay (Opera House) Or 5 Mins drive to the city over Anzac Bridge. It's not to far from Ryde, im not sure about transportation from there to Ryde but it wouldn't surprise me if there was a bus that went direct. Rupert
Agree that Balmain and surrounds are nice areas, also perhaps North Sydney, Crows Nest, Kirribilli perhaps. Your budget should be plenty for shared accommodation, just note that generally people talk about rents in weekly terms not monthly here.
northshorepom
Good suggestions of suburbs there I think...other Inner West suburbs like Pyrmont and Glebe might also suit Bus map is here: http://www.sydneybuses.info/network-interchange-maps/west_map.pdf Also the train goes to North Ryde (the business park is on Delhi Rd a short distance from North Ryde rail station/the junction with the M2) - so lots of transport options
