Kel87
As the title says really, I contacted Ian Harrod migration agency and just had a lovely and very informative conversation with one of his staff. My original plan was to do without an agent however my husband is originally Turkish and Im worried that this may cause problems and the more I look into the more I feel we may be best with an agent. Ian Harrods quoted appox 6k for IELTS, nurse skills assesment, visa fees, medicals, police checks and their fee. I forgot to ask if that is $ or £ as she was quoted some costs in £s and others on $s like visa in $, medicals in £s etc.
Gareth 666
I would ask for a breakdown of the costs, whether they're in £ or $, and see if you can do at least some stuff yourself for less and if they'd allow this. I know medical fees can vary from around £400 per adult to £200, depending on where you're prepared to travel to. IELTS is £125 each test, I can't imagine an agent would mark this up, but you never know. I'd think your caosts may be slightly higher than the average standard visa app due to the possible issues with your hubby being a foreign national but I think it's still worth asking around. There are some horror stories on here with people not knowing what they're paying for and not getting the service, although I think you'd be pretty safe with Ian Harrop from what I've seen. You've been a great help today the costs she was quoting did seem to tie in with costs I've seen the last few months on these forums etc. she said their fee is £1950+vat so 4k for everything else? Just trying to count how much it would be if we went alone. Contacted Ian Harrod after reading loads of great reviews on here and other forums, going to co tact go matilda also and see what they suggest. Gareth 666
I guess 4k sounds about right. Visa is $3060 (about £2k) £250 for both IELTS, £400-£800 for meds and then skills assessment costs.
Gareth 666
And as for the help, I'm hopefully just returning some of the help I've had during my process. And it beat doing the decorating! Lol

AUD6k to cover all that is not enough, it might just about cover the visa / medicals costs etc but there would be nothing for the agent.
