Rash Vests

Hi, can anyone recommend a brand of rash vests for children (up to age 12) that are good quality. The ones I've been using (various brands) only last for a few weeks. My kids are in the pool every day and I rinse them out in warm water, occasionally hand wash them in mild detergent and leave to dry on a line (the rash vests not the kids!). After 4 weeks at the most they suddenly 'stretch' and lose all their shape, going down from the kids waists to their knees! I don't know whether its just because they are being used every day so just to replace every 6 weeks with cheap ones? Thanks for reading!

I have never had any problem and our kids have them all the time, we have had ones from Best & Less up to the brand ones like Billabong. We never put them in the washing machine though.

Have you tried laying them out to dry rather than hanging? I'm wondering if the weight of the water while they're hanging is what's stretching them out?

good luck anyway :)

good thinking, we fold ours over the line

we have found that the sun can damage things quicker, so out of direct light should help, my daughter has outgrown some before and i have passed them on, strange. always bought them out of target if i remember right. I know what you mean though actually we have had some that have done that, i just wouldn't buy too cheap if they are in the pool loads, when we didn't have a pool that is maybe why they lasted longer but when we have had a pool we have had that problem. I suppose if they are swimming alot it would be worth paying for better quality.

I have the same problem as the OP with the rashies we wear alot, more so the kids who wear them all the time. Ive had best and less brands up to Quicksilver and all do the same after a while. Mine are rarely hung on the line or put in the washer (tend to hang them over side of bath to dry).

I've got two one is an Animal and the other O'neil (I have expensive tastes) and neither of them have had any problems, I've had them for 3 years now and have been wearing them a lot the past few months, they stretch quite a bit when I take them off (the animal one to the extent I think it's going to rip) but they just go back to their normal shape. Me being 18 and a boy can't really be bothered to wash them properly so just rinse them off quickly and drape them over the bath to dry. So I would definitely recommend O'neil and the Animal one although doesn't seem quite as good as the O'neil.
