A little rant coming on!!!!

:chatterbox::chatterbox:Hi all

Just a little rant!!! was offered a job end of Sept, got everything together for aphra and sent it to Darwin in October, got confirmation of payment on Now 1st, and was allocated a co who informed me they had everything they needed and my application was complete. So numerous phonecalls later, at the beginning of Dec, my co told me my application was being passed to the board to be assessed, and I would not hear anything back until the end of January! as everywhere in oz closed down for the holidays etc, (but later found out that she had gone on holiday until the end of Jan!) So have kept on ringing and being polite, (speaking to different people, tonight they even put me through to a mangager) reminding them of my job offer etc, and am still being told the same thing, they are adamant I wont hear anything back before the end of Jan, as they dont know when the board is next meeting!

Ok, so onto my next problem! we lodged our visa 457 on Dec 10th, on the 12th I received an email and a case officer, requesting further documents, passport details, birth certificates etc, so these were notarised and emailed off, I kept ringing and emailing him, to see if he had received the documents ok etc, but never got any reply. I rang the diac last night and spoke to another co, who informed me that my original co is off sick, and they are unsure of when he will be back, she requested that I send her the original email to her requesting the documents etc, and also resend her all the scanned documentation which I did. She would then upload my ehealth status, so I could then book my medical, which was not done, so I could not book my medical today, but that is easily resolved, my main worry (besides aphra!) is that the diac told me tonight that they are waiting on two things before the visa can be issued, my medical and my aphra registration. I have not heard of this before (but then again I am no expert in any of this!:confused:) So is this right? that they have to have my aphra reg before the via can be issued, as I just thought that once you pass (hopefully) the medical, then you got the visa. It just looks now that our hands are tied until the end of Jan, before we can do anything else!

Sorry for the (not so little ) rant! but any advice would be appreciated :err:

Thanks in advance

I don't know for certain, but it makes sense that you would need confirmation of your eligibility to be registered to work in order to be granted the 457 which is a temporary working visa. The eligibility letter is in essessence saying that you fulfil the working criteria to be offered a job.

Agree, it sounds perfectly sensible to me. Also visa lodged on 10th December, it is 3rd January and it has been the Christmas holidays inbetween. Not sure I understand what there is to rant about at this point. Chill out.

I agree with both other posts. This has not been an excessive time. Try waiting years like some people. My employer sponsored visa took five months to be issued, and many are close to a year. Immigration do not care that your employer is waiting, they care about doing things right. Many people have lost jobs because immigration have taken many months. If that happens then feel free to rant.

OH is a doctor, our holdup on the 457 was APHRA. Do a search on PIO for APHRA to see the experiences of some of the others who have had to be registered through them. If you think there is cause, have a look at the complaints procedure on the APHRA site.

Once you have got though APHRA, the 457 is normally granted very fast. Ours was granted within an hour of sending the CO the APHRA registration.

G'day

This is quite normal - the long wait with AHPRA and requirement for registration with AHPRA for your visa to be granted. I am a migration agent with about 10 years experience working exclusively with overseas trained doctors, managing their applications for employment, assessment, registration and visa.

Do bear in mind that this is the peak time of year for AHPRA - they are currently processing hundreds of thousands of registration applications from new grads, most of whom are pushing for fast processing in order to start work in jobs that are waiting for them.

They will get to your application, but you can't really do anything at this stage. I know the visa process involves lots of waiting, but that tends to go with the territory when it comes to migrating. Given that your visa depends on your being able to work, it's not unreasonable of DIAC to want that to be sorted before they issue the visa.

Hi all,

Apologies for the rant, as it does seem a bit hasty, :embarrassed:but my only concern is the job, I know theres nothing I can do but wait, and whatever will be will be.... but from experience I know exactly what aphra can be like, as hubby lost a job last year whilst waiting for his reg to come through, as aphra only took twelve months to grant his registration!! after losing the first set of documents!!

But thanks for all the advice, now its time to chill....enjoy the wait.......relax........and wait some more...........X

all part of this wonderful process......
