Guest Guest70948
Hi there I am wondering if anyone can give me some advice on the 457 transition scheme. I commenced work for my employer in July 2010 on the WHV and after 6 months this was transferred over to the 457 - so Feb 2012 with a visa duration of 2 years. My employer is now willing to support me with gaining PR - I have worked for over 2 years with the employer however the 457 element is not 2 years yet - I'm a month short. Does this matter? Panicking as my visa expires in 6 weeks!! Any advice is appreciated as I cannot afford to use an agent. Many thanks
Rupert
You need two years on the 457 for the transition stream. If you got a skills assessment you don't need to have spent two years on the 457 visa. Six weeks is long enough to do the transition stream application though isn't it, so long as you were ready to lodge the minute you reached two years. Tight yes, but not impossible and you probably don't have many options having left it this late.
Guest Guest70948
Thanks Rupert - I just checked my 457 grant notification and the visa was approved on Jan 10th phew!! Still pushing it but I couldn't really do much until I was up to years employed and I don't have a skills assessment.
