Somudra
Hi, I am an onshore applicant from a High Risk country according to to the DIAC. I lodged my Visa application on 26 November, has uploaded all the required documents except the PCC which I will upload tomorrow. Medical was done on 3rd December. Unfortunately my medical was classified as Case B and needs a specialist assessment. I have already arranged an appointment with a specialist and hopefully the report from the specialist will reach the Medibank Case B team by 25 January. A Case officer has already been allocated. I am just wondering how long does it take to process for a 190 Onshore visa applicant to grant visa. Currently I am holding 485 Graduate skilled visa. Please share your experiences as well. Somudra
You might want to follow this thread HR applicants where are you now?? I do follow that thread, but that thread mostly consists of offshore 175/176 applicants. I am particularly interested in visa subclass 190/189, who applied onshore/offshore. lebourvellec
If you are applying onshore from 485, you shouldn't have same delays as offshore HR applicant.

lebourvellec
thanks mate, I hope so. Did you have long delays from to get your 485 from student visa with internal and external checks. How long have you been in Australia now.
musmanasghar
If you are applying onshore from 485, you shouldn't have same delays as offshore HR applicant. During 175/176 Days On shore applicants had no edge on off shore applicants. they were and many of them who are on above mentioned thread are still facing Similar delays like offshore applicants. Common sense says that, they should get there Visa early as they are already in Australia and some of them were living here since last 9 and one applicant was living here from last 11 years but they faced lengthy Security checks which lasts more than 15 months. On the other hand just to cheer up the OP. kindly note that, 4 Offshore Skill select 190 HR applicants (Pakistani) have receive there grants in 4 months after visa application submission. So you will be fine Cheers and good luck
Somudra
Did you have long delays from to get your 485 from student visa with internal and external checks. How long have you been in Australia now. I took nearly 18 months to get a Case officer, but once allocated it did not take long, may be 15 days to get my 485 visa. The CO asked all sorts of documents that we normally need to provide for the permanent visa. I have been in Australia for 6 years+.

But In the above thread about the applicants from HR countries made me bit tensed as some are waiting for many months. Hopefully my further assessment will be fine as it's just a formality. gsaglam
In the time-table, DIAC has classified 190 visa in the 3rd priority, without taking "where this visa application made from" into consideration. I also live in a high risk country (Turkey). My sister has been living in oz for almost 2 years. She got her pr within 4 or 6 months, I don't remember. She was married for 12+ months. My sister and her husband were thinking to move to AU, since they had their honeymoon there, and adored oz. First they applied for state sponsorship, but got a negative response due to the occupation ceilings. (Sister: computer engineer, brother in law: electrical engineer). Then they applied for the independent pr visa. By the way, her husband was working in a French company in Turkey, and he was offered a position in Brisbane within the same company. He accepted, and they happily got their ENS. Anyway, their independent visa was granted very quick.. (4-6 months) I will also apply for a 190, offshore. (I am a mathematics teacher, graduated from a highly respected uni here in Turkey, got my education in English, and worked in English teaching schools.) Maybe in February I will be able to submit my EOI, even though it might be too late for you Somudra, I will share my timeline too. For me, DIAC is clear about everything. Asks the applicant to have qualifications and prove it. Then advises how much this will take, and works hard to catch the timeline. Best wishes;)

kuber15
Hi all, I applied for my PCC on 13/12/12 and was expecting to get it in 5 working days as when I applied last time it only took 4 days which was in Sydney. This time I applied through vfs Canberra and after a couple of emails to them they replied yesterday that it has been sent to authorities in India and will take on an average 6 to 8 weeks. Just wondering does it go to the high commission in India and then to the regional police office or how does it work. After reading posts on expat and other forums , posts by shanders I am very worries that it might take a long while is there anything I can do to expedite the process? By sending my father to the RPO or to the embassy ? Any help would be appreciated.

Only thing you should know is that its in process and it will take its time. Its DIAC internal procedures. Stay calm and wait for good news. Good luck cheers
