Hello and any advice appreciated

Hi there, my family and I are at the beginning of the whole migration process. My hubby is a plumber (over 5yrs experience) I am cabin crew for a uk airline and we have two children (5 & 6 yrs).

We have signed up to a migrant agent and are currently sending info/paperwork ready to be lodged for the Vetasses.

My hubby's sister lives about an hr outside of Sydney and because of this we do not get the points for her being there!! So hubby now has to do the IELTS test (any pointers there would be appreciated!)

We have been to Oz twice before and are coming again in March for 4 weeks, mainly to see family but also to have a good look round at things.

If anyone has any pointers/advice on what we could do whilst there to assist the process, would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Hello and welcome. Good luck with the process. I can't give tips on the IELTS but hopefully others will be able to help.

With regard to what you could do on your next holiday, I don't think there is much tbh. If you know the area you would like to settle and so on, there isn't much else you can do. Schools might be good to check out but again, till you know you are actually on your way or have your visa approved and so on, you can do little. Many schools won't accept pre enrolment or anything and you have to be living in the country before you can apply.

About the one thing I would say is I hope you have signed with a reputable migration agent and ensured you've done homework and read reviews etc before putting ink on the dotted line. Some people sign up with a company thinking they have gotten a good deal and then find it goes a bit pear shaped and read the reviews and feedback after the event and when they are tied to the process and its harder to walk away because money has been paid out etc.

Hi

thanks for the reply. We've signed with a reputable company/agent who have been great so far. Just finding the whole process very long winded. Determined to get there though so no giving in, you only live once!

The whole process is very long winded migrating takes a degree of patience that I really struggle with! Regarding the IELTs the key is lots of practice I used Scott's English success website there is a small fee which signs you up for a period of weeks and there are lessons on the techniques needed also lots of mock tests.

Good luck

The majority of people have to take IELTS and there are no points for family unless you get the provisional visa, which is a much lesser visa so you are better off without them.

I honestly cannot think if a single thing that you could do on your holiday that would help with your visa process, just have a great time.
