Rupert
No business visas require a substantial track record of running a business. It generally is not feasible to buy your way into Australia.
Joebloggs
If you have a spare $5m knocking around we might consider it. http://m.theaustralian.com.au/national-affairs/immigration/labor-reaches-out-to-rich-migrants-with-new-fast-track-visa/story-fn9hm1gu-1226366252119
Guest guest76088
I think the criteria are that you are owning or representing an established overseas enterprise interested in establishing a branch in Australia. The following was taken from here: http://www.immi.gov.au/skills/skillselect/index/visas/subclass-188/ [h=4]If you are in the Business Innovation stream[/h]If you are in the Business Innovation stream, you must: be younger than 55 years of age, although a state or territory can waive this requirement if your proposed business will be of exceptional economic benefit to the relevant region score at least 65 on the Innovation Points test have a total annual turnover of at least AUD500 000 (in one or more of your main businesses) in at least two of the four fiscal years immediately before you are invited to apply own at least one of the following percentages of that main business (or two main busineses): 51 per cent of a business with a turnover of less than AUD400 000 per annum 30 per cent of a business with a turnover of more than AUD400 000 per annum 10 per cent of a publicly-listed company [*]have managed a business, in which you spent less than half your time on professional (such as a doctor or lawyer), technical or trade services [*]have a genuine desire to own and maintain a management role in a business in Australia. Hope this helps BigD

Alan Collett
Yes, it is do-able, via a subclass 457 pathway using the target business as the basis of the sponsorship. Technically more challenging than most other pathways, and likely to involve professional fees for the visa application, business registrations, a business plan, etc - so be prepared if you decide to go for it! blossom
Alan, presumably it would have to be a bussiness which they were already 'skilled' in to get the 457 visa?
Alan Collett
Alan, presumably it would have to be a bussiness which they were already 'skilled' in to get the 457 visa? Depends on the occupation nominated, blossom79. The art in this type of application is picking the right occupation (remember the 457 visa occupations list is broader than the GSM list), having a persuasive business plan that addresses issues such as the training requirement, and personal competencies (CV, etc) that persuades the DIAC decision maker. Being aware of the pathway to permanent residency (which might simply be two years of working on a 457 visa, and then progressing via the Employer Nomination Scheme) is also key for anyone wishing to consider this as a strategy.
