Sarah and family
Hello All, We are after some advice if anyone is able to assist. We as a family are looking to Emigrate from Uk to Sunshine Coast, QLD or as close to as possible. My husband is a project manager for a BMS controls engineering company. He is used to working with TREND and ALC but has some experience with TRIDIUM. Does anyone know of any companies that are looking for a highly experienced project manager of whom if which, ideally use TREND systems? Or know of the best way in which to apply for jobs in this area. We need to apply for a Visa and understand we could get a sponsorship from an employer which is the best route to take? His job is also on the skilled Visa's list but not sure of the best route to take? If anyone can offer any advice we will be truly grateful Regards Sarah and Family in the UK
Rupert
Who told you that you could get sponsorship? Uninformed people can say this very easily, but the reality can be quite different. For most people, sponsorship is extremely difficult to obtain from overeas, I am not familiar with this occupation and perhaps it is one of the exceptions, like nursing, they never have much trouble lining up sponsors. That is why I just thought I would ask where you heard this? Personally, I am more a fan of skilled migration, especially for families. Means you are PR from the start and not tied to an employer. Sarah and family
Hi Rupert Thank your for your reply, We are very new to the whole Emigration process and at the moment it seems like a distant dream, hence why we are trying to find out as much information as possible. As far as who told us about Sponsorship, this is something I also don't know a lot about, but from reading the posts on this website had the general impression that sponsorship was the easiest way to Emigrate as would have a definite job and some companies will even help with relocation. Again this is something we have only read and as this is completely new to us we are just trying to get as much advice as possible. I think an agent will have to be the next stage for us to understand the processes in more depth. My husbands job is on the skilled list so hopefully we can go via this route its just the uncertainty of work once we arrive which is why we wanted to secure this first. Many Thanks for your message Sarah and family xox

Many Thanks for your message Sarah and family xox Most often sponsored jobs are 457 Temp Residency visas, if you leave or lose your job you have 28 days to find a new sponsor or leave the country. An employer needs to agree to sponsor for PR, and most wont do this before working for them for 2 years. On a TR visa some states you need to pay school fees which can be up to nearly $5000 per child, and you would need private medical insurance to get the visa. Most people on the site in the migration section are going through GSM, Have a look through Skill select at 189 and 190 visa, http://www.immi.gov.au/skills/skillselect/ It is always a good idea to run your case past a registered migration agent, try Go Matilda, Overseas Emigration or Visa Bureau all well respected agents on the forum. Rupert
I have been reading immigration forums for four years and the process for getting a sponsored visa can be quicker and easier, the process for finding a sponsor is most definitely not. I honestly don't think you will find any of the old hands saying that finding sponsorship is easy ... it is only easy for a select few occupations. And your husbands could be one of those for all I know. If it isn't one of those occupations then you have a mountain to climb if looking for sponsoship and personally I think you would be better off putting your energy into skilled migration from the start. Anyway let's see what other people say, some who actually know something about this particular occupation.
Sarah and family
Thanks so much for this info.. This is a start as I had no idea, if we move to aus we want it to be a permanant move without the risk of husbands job determing our stay! We want to have PR and our children to enrole in a state school and really make a go at starting our new life and settling in as best as we can without the uncertainty of having to uproot again!we will defiantly be looking down the skilled visa route and looking into agents! If we leave the uk, we hope it will be for good! Thank you for this Information it's not something I was aware of
craigyboy
Hi Sarah and Family, I am trained in real estate/development/construction project management. Your husband expertise is something a little bit different as it is an area of project management that deals with project controls within oil and gas etc civil construction. Although getting a pr visa is the preferred I feel your husbands skill set is something which could attract sponsorship. For example, the last migration expo I was at they were looking for civil engineer project managers to assist in the larger infrastructure projects ie natural gas processing installations. Try Konnecting a recruitment company specialising in 457 sponsorships or alternatively get yourself along to a migration expo. Good luck with the future. Sarah and family
Thank you for reply.. We are looking into job options at the moment but I think will be better for us and more security to go for PR
srg73
I am an experienced and chartered surveyor who specialises in construction project and contract management. I have been advised that PR is more attractive to employers and they will not consider you as a candidate until you have your visa and in most cases that you are actually in Australia. We are just about to complete our 189 and hopefully validate in September, only then will I start contacting agencies etc. Fortunately I am in a good job which is stable and will serve us well until we are ready to go. Best of luck and as mentioned engineering trades are very much in demand, much more than construction project management. S
Sarah and family
Thank you for this information, this is a reassurance. His job is very much in demand here in Uk too and pay is really good, if we could take his job and salary with us we would! I know alot of people emigrate due to jobs but our reason is to provide a better future for our children, but obviously work also determines this. I think the net step should be to look at visa's Thanks again for your message Sarah xox
Tuosist
Hi Sarah, 457 Sponsorship Your OH may be able to obtain sponsorship if he is very specialised although perhaps the job title might be closer to 'software engineer' with reference to the CSOL. Your OH would not necessarily want to go through the hassle of registration as an electrician unless its absolutely necessary. Skilled Migration \ PR Moving is going to focus around you OH work, so I suggest that be the starting point and you work out where you live afterwards. If he gets sponsored, PR is always an option later on possibly with the employers support. Networking I suggest your OH use existing contacts in the UK and Linked In to make connections with Oz companies. Your career What study are you completing? Is this relevant re occupations? Good luck
Sarah and family
Thank you, will look on expats I don't really understand visa's enough to be honest, I need to do my homework on them! I wasn't aware you could get work without one and access to schools etc, We want our children to settle as quickly as possible for them and am worried about the uncertainty of not having PR. I've ready some people had been given 28 day notice to leave to country due to no visa (this worries me!) Hubby is speaking to a few men in the industry who also lived and worked in QLD so hopefully this will help him! I am studying an Early Years and Education foundation Degree, I will plan to continue working with children in the Early Years age range in Aus, however will have to top up to BA Hons when in Aus as dont want to wait an extra year in Uk to finish all 3 years, my course is foundation and is 2 years here in uk and after I will have to apply for my 3rd year! so hopefully I can just apply in Aus! Thank you fir useful information xox
