nic1964
Hi well done, great place to stay as well. My thoughts / experiences are 1) Bank account (I set mine up in the UK before I arrived, and on arrival they organised cards etc within 3 days - Commonwealth Bank). 2) Medicare cards 3) Mobile phone. Don't try to use your UK phone to contact the UK. I just got a new SIM for my phone and for $30/month I get 5 hr UK calls included 4) Accomodation - this may be tricky. I tend to hark on about this, (see my other entries), but I found it the most difficult. Lots of competition, and you need references, proof of employment etc. As we are heading into Autumn you may get some good deals on Holiday accomodation, at least to get you going. Then I used Gumtree and went for a private rental (alternatives are via realty agents, who are very fixed in paparwork etc). This worked great for us. 5) Find the local recruitment agencies on-line and contact them. They did the running around for me, and were really helpful explaining differences in contracts etc. I had telephone interviews whilst in the UK, which again helped when I got out here. Hope that helps Nick
