Skilled employment assessment

Hi,

Please could anyone advise if it is essential that you include a reference from your current employer when having your skilled employment assessed?

I'm looking to apply for a 189 visa and would require my skilled employment to be assessed by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

For obvious reasons I'm just a bit reluctant to notify my current employer that I am considering leaving...

Any help would be much appreciated!

For me, you should check the "checklist" for your skill assessment from the web-page of "Institute of Chartered Accountants". There must be a detailed step-by-step explanation there. You may also e-mail them. My assessment authority(AITSL) did not want me to submit any reference letters.

Marry Christmas :)

Hi

You can always look at providing a Statutory Declaration and explaining why you have provided this.

I got a standard reference from work, saying I needed this for proof of employment period for a mortgage application, and then provided a statutory declaration to explain why the reference was not in the format they ideally required (i.e. Not company policy to explain 5 main activities, risk of redundancy etc). It all worked out OK.
