Moving to Perth - help on finding the right suburb?

Hi all

I am new to this, but would really appreciate some help on find the right suburb for my family. Myself, my husband and our 18 month old son are moving to Perth next year. My husband will be working in East Perth and travelling by train, so we are looking for an easy commute and we would like to rent a 3/4 bed house in a nice area, however we only have a budget of $500 per week. We were thinking south because you seem to get more for your money there.

Our priorities are as follows:

1. Good hospital near by (I am currently 8 weeks pregnant and will be giving birth in Perth)

2. Good childcare and primary school

3. Clean and safe (parks etc)

4. Community spirit/good neighbours

5. Few shops/coffee shops etc

It would be nice to be near the beach, however it is much more important that we have the facilities for the children.

I would really appreciate any advice that you could give us as I really do not know where to start.

Thanks

Most will say north or south, but if you looked between Inglewood and Guildford areas, then hubby would have a nice riverside bike ride to East Perth, there is a bike path that goes all the way, plus the trains go direct to East Perth, plus you get to live by the river.

We are living in sorrento and pay 470/wk for a lovely 4 bed house. Big garden and only 800m from the beach. It takes me 30 to 40 mins to get to work in the city, depending on traffic. Traffic can be quite heavy in rush hr. gd schools here and lovely parks. We love it!

These are a few links that we have been using to draw up our short list of suburbs which you may find helpful. I have also included the rail network map so that you can work out journey times etc.

Until you get here you won't know , you can look on websites but they might not be your bag, when you get here , rail links great biggest problem is parking at the buggers
