wolvesaussie
Hi all, we have been given a lot of presents for christmas for our new life together in Australia (Moving in September)... Things like Frying pans, Posh cutlery sets, Presure cookers, Stoneware stuff... also even smaller things like Towels, Bed clothes, tea towels etc.. Is it ok to leave all this untouched till we arrive in Australia seems easier, we have no space for them in our existing tiny kitchen or will that risk being hit with some sort of import duty? Thanks
calNgary
I brought some kitchen stuff still in its original packaging but most of it i removed and re packed myself. We had no issues with customs so fingers crossed as you havent a container full of new goods you should be fine. Cal x
Tickled Pink
We had quite a few new bits, some wedding presents, we didn't have any problems with customs. Anything you are really concerned about then take out of its new packaging a re wrap it.
Rupert
We had a few new bits and bobs, we took most things out of the original wrappings. Immigration are really looking for commercial imports not people with one or two new things so I wouldn't worry about it tooo much.
Mount Wellington
Just prior to moving we had purchased pair of shoes, book, xbox game, new Vax upright hoover and new Vax carpet cleaner. All in original boxes and declared on paperwork. Grand total of $22.94 duty/GST requested. I could not believe that but the sum above is what was requested. Personally, I think it pays to be honest........
