Melting in Perth - how did you keep cool this Christmas??

What a hot few days we have had in Perth. How did you keep cool over Christmas?

In my slightly "different" family, we just lived in our bathers, tshirts and sarongs- went for constant swims in the pool that felt like a warm bath and then came in and cooled off in the air con. When dry did the same thing over, and over, and over again......

In between there was lots of yummy grub, drinkies, and funny videos.

Xmas day was the 1st day that i thought was proper warm in Perth.

Spent until 2pm at Cottesloe beach then back to the house and cooked a traditional turkey and trimmings dinner for 14

Had a couple of dips in the pool but still no need for the air con to go on.

A portable fan in the bedroom is doing the trick.

Sat in the back lounge at the mo, doors open, a nice cool breeze blowing in

Pretty much the same here .... we have wisteria at the end of the garden which provides lots of shade, so that's were the loungers and hammock are - so for us, dips in the pool, lounging in the shade and cooling off indoors with the aircon ... and had a lovely Christmas.

Pool, air-con, for 35C then heater yesterday for o'night 8C and back to pool today for 27C. NO humidity, and for that truly grateful.

Wait for the doctor to arrive open the doors and windows and relish the breeze never shut front door at all last night till we went to bed.

Ahh the Doctor, a regular star indeed.

I reckon Xmas Day in Sydney it struggled to reach 18C and with heavy, "English style" (ie constant, moderate rainfall rather than the stormy squalls and subtropical showers that are more the norm) rain all day. I quite enjoyed it, perversely - just like Xmas at home. Nice to cool the fabric of the house down after two increasingly hot days, the pool got more than enough action on Xmas Eve

Since then it's been fairly cool all week over here, supposed to be warmer and sunnier tomorrow but at least the nights are still forecast with cooler temps. Fine by me, I can handle any sort of heat during the day, it's hot nights I hate. Selfishly I'm not really bothered about having a hot summer, wife is heavily pregnant so as soon as the mercury is over 30 I get a cacophony of moaning

Love it. Perfect weather.

Was down at South Beach 6pm tonight, still red hot. Came home had a shower and now sat outside beer in hand.

Agree that the doctor keeps it cool but it can be a pain in the backside aswell. Get up in the morning and the pool looks like a disaster zone!!

We have power cuts fires fried the wires apparently, no aircon or fans tonight :( ...supposed to be 41 on sat :) I'm going to fill the pool with ice cubes hehe ..strangely it was boxing day we put our air con on for the first time .

We have ceiling fans through the house and its usually enough if you shut up the windows and doors and blinds etc through the day ..
