NurseAng
Hi Everyone We are due to arrive into Sydney from LHR on a saturday morning at 0700 and then need to get to the domestic terminal for our connection. How much time do we need? We are flying business so will have the express pass for customs which should help. We are looking at a flight at 0915 but i'm not sure if it's too tight? Thanks very much Angela
blossom
It is hard to say as it depends on what other flights are arriving at the same time. We went through the 'something to declare' line, which was much bigger than the nothing to declare line. I still don't think it took longer than an hour though. That was 5 years ago though... Quoll
Are you on Qantas all the way? If so, then yes, you should be OK but if you are on non Qantas for either or both legs then it might be a bit trickier. But all it takes is one slightly late plane and you are stymied. Are you booking through on the one ticket because if you do that and the first plane is delayed then they look after you. If you do it as two separate bookings then you are responsible for the second bit. If you go Qantas check out the Qantas seamless transfer service - IIRC Virgin have one as well but Ive never used them http://www.sydneyairport.com.au/go/terminal-transfer. Getting through customs (and, more importantly, quarantine) is one of those how long is a piece of string questions - could be 30 minutes, could be 1hr 30 minutes though I must say most times I have arrived it has been around 45 mins to an hour. NurseAng
Thanks for the advice, it's much appreciated. We are flying in with BA then onto Tassie with Virgin which does make life more complicated. We've decided to risk it and go for the direct flight - the alternative was to wait 4 hours for the next flight at 11 but it went through Melbourne and we had to change planes so didn't arrive in tassie till 4ish and it cost another $800. So we'll be the ones legging it through the airport with 2 very tired children. Fingers crossed we go through smoothly & it's not late!!!
